I am hoping the likes of DF and others who are into watches could help please.

My mum currently has a collection of watches sitting in a safe deposit box somewhere, and I am trying to persuade her to sell them.

They are a couple of PP watches and a ? Longine pocket watch that belonged to my late father, and a VC that belongs to my mum (no photos yet).

Myself and my siblings are not interested in having them.

AFAIK, my mum has the papers to go with them, except perhaps the pocket watch.

Just wondering if I should take them to an auction house or otherwise to gauge how much they are worth before selling them privately etc...

Your input and suggestions will be much appreciated, and thanks for your help in advance.

DK :))

P.S. There is also a massive table clock that runs on air allegedly by JL somewhere sitting in a box, not sure what to do with it as I cannot drag that to an auction house without a car!

Need pics and Ref. # on the PP watches. I think you are referring to a JLC Atmos clock.

Will do when I go and visit my folks in HK in Nov 2015, assuming my mum remembers to bring them with her!

Try going to a company that will give you a quote and then pay you for your watch. I would Google Bob's Watches and contact them. Most of their watches are Rolex but I have seen other models on their site.

If you willing to sell watches online, then take some pics of them with close up, and upload to online selling sites with selling price which you want. Another option is to sell it them to watch shop. But the best option is to sell it online.

There are many places on the web where that would sell luxury watches. I'd suggest watchuseek as a starting point. There are several shops in central London who specialise in buying Rolex Watches but wont give you a great price.
