Best way to get Blue Nile round into Vatche

Hello Pricescopers!
Years ago I bought a Blue Nile diamond that is eligible for their diamond upgrade program, so it is very likely I will get my stone from them. I have my heart set on a Tiffany repro knife edge six prong, just not sure who to send it to once I've made the purchase. I love the Vatche U-113, but I'm open to other repros too. Once bought, would it go to an appraiser or to me first? Any advice on the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the Vatche website and see where the closest retailer is to where you live. There's no reason to deal with the hassle of sending your stone somewhere if you can access the settings locally. But if you can't access them locally, then Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, and ID Jewelry carry Vatche. You'd have to make sure they will set a diamond that they did not sell, and then expect to pay a setting fee.

I have the Vatche U-113 setting and I think it is a beautiful Tiffany repro!

I have! And while it looks close, I'm concerned about the space between the head and shoulders of the ring and to me it looks like it would collect a lot of dirt, dust in there.

Diamondseeker you are one of the Vatche owners that inspired me to want that setting! I'm in Southern California and I did find one Vatche retailer in Santa Monica. Not too far. I think I just had this idea in my head to send it to one of the PS trusted vendors that accepts loose stones. Just wasn't sure who would do that. Thank you!

krisjon: Thank you for that suggestion! I was shown that ring by the BN SA and was a little frightened by the way the prong tips look on the website picture. Plus I've seen so many hand shots here of the U-113 so I thought that was the best way to go. However, I searched knife edge from BN last night and found one happy poster with that ring AND hand shots and I'm starting to think that's the way to go. The prongs did not seem to overtake the diamond at all!

Diamond head, I went through iD jewelry and received a blue nile signature stone in a Vatche setting (I wasn't going for a blue bike stone, I found out it was one after purchase). They have a best price guarantee, so I think you could do well with that option.

There are many of us here who work with Vatche. They make a great product and are easy for us to work with.

They are very protective of the minimum price that a vendor can sell for, so it is not too likely that you will save money by working on the internet, but you may want to check prices to see that your local vendor is not selling at high retail either.

Ah, had no idea you sold Vatche, too, Wink!

Diamondhead, thank you! I am glad you like my setting! I will tell you that I would go with your original plan. It really is a nice setting and I do not have any confidence that the stock settings from large diamond drop-shippers would be equal in quality. Not only that, you can request a harder alloy of platinum by going through Vatche. I have the 90%platinum/10%iridium combination and there was no extra charge for that. I encourage you to go through the local Vatche seller. The extra shipping expense of sending your diamond to a PS vendor will probably be more than you'd save in tax.

My fiancé actually has the knife edge from Blue Nile and it's very nice. The prongs are small and well done without overpowering the stone. I'll post a pic later of hers face up when I have some time.

Thanks Mico! Your ring is another inspiration of mine. Saw your previous posts. Love! How did you find out it was a Blue Nile stone? Would love to work with Yekutiel, since I've read so many awesome things about him, but I'm planning on using the proceeds from the BN diamond upgrade to get a bigger diamond. I could perhaps put it on the preloved forum, which would free me to work with anyone, but I've never sold jewelry before, so I'm a little chicken.

Since Blue Nile is giving you 100% credit towards a new stone, I would go through them. I have 2 Blue Nile diamonds myself (not sig stones though, and their prices for diamonds were hard to beat). I would also consider the knife edge Nouveau with them. That way you won't be charged a setting fee or have to worry about anyone chipping your diamond.

The jeweler that was close to me in Santa Monica said they don't work with Vatche anymore.
The next closest place listed is a two hour drive. :|

Wow, that is too bad! I am surprised that there aren't more Vatche dealers in CA!

Here's the six-prong knife edge noveau from Blue Nile. The prongs are actually on the small and delicate side compared to some of their other solitaire settings.

Thank you for reaching out with that advice Wink!

Looks very delicate/beautiful to me! Not like the pic on BN's website at all!

I had the same concerns about huge prongs, but that wasn't the case. Also it's thinner (like 2.2mm) at the top of the band, so it shows the stone well. It's very balanced. Similar settings seem to be more substantial.

This is with a 1.01 AGS 0, H, VS1 stone.

I agree, the head shot looks just like mine! Can you post a profile view?

I knew mine was a BN stone because I googled the GIA number and it popped up, for more than I paid for it BTW ;)

Unfortunately, I can't post a profile shot until later next week. It's currently back at BN being re-sized. This was a pic I already had from when we got engaged.

Thanks, Laila! We both love it, too.
Better than Tiffany specs at less than half the price.

Side note: are you in San Diego? Noticed the 619.

Thanks Laila. Hadn't even factored the risk of chipping part into the equation. :errrr:

Loving your fiance's ring. Would love more shots/angles please if you can when she gets it back as there are so few out there of this style!

We get it back next Tuesday, so I'll get some other shots then.

No problem! Just stand by and I'll see if I can help more next week when we get it back.
I've been meaning to get some better all-around shots of her ring anyway, so this gives me a good excuse to do just that.

So krisjon?
Don't mean to bug, but how is that photo shoot coming along?

Can't do anything until this weekend. We got the ring back Tuesday and it's great, but my fiancé had to leave town for work.
