I'm new here...found your forum doing a search for information regarding settings for marquis diamonds.
I would love to hear some of your input.
I am thinking of resetting my e-ring. I've been married for 5 years and had my e-ring for over 6 years now. At the time...it was the style. Platinum band with tapered baguettes with yellow gold on the setting as well. I hate the two toned look now. I also believe my stone (GIA cert .84 ct, D color, SI1 clarity) could be served better in a better setting. The platinum can be dulling and this stone only shines when it's been cleaned at the jeweler. Could it be my stone? Is it the marquis cut that is dulling? Or could I have the stone in a better setting that would make it stand out more?
A jeweler I saw today suggested taking the baguettes I already have out and making a tapered baguette setting (similar to what I currently have) with just one on each side and then taking the other two and making a band out of it. 500 for the remount of my diamonds. Not bad but I'm nervous thinking that it will look just the same aside from not having the gold that I dislike on it. My whole purpose is to lose the gold and draw more attention to this center stone.
Any suggestions?
I'd love to get a new stone (round would now be my preference) however financially that isn't going to be an option...seems like a waste when you have two kids and a house to pay for

So in order to make the best of what I have...I'm looking for the right direction to go in :)
Thanks for any advice!
