Best Purchase Of 2012

Best home purchase of 2012 was definitely fencing in our backyard! It is a beautiful aluminum fence and I love that playing outside with the kids is so much easier now!

Best bling purchase is my new studs from BGD that I got on their black friday sale! Hoping to start a thread this week on them!

I'm using my best purchase right now! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

We've only been together a couple hours, but this is the real thing. It's love.

I figured out that the last time I got a new laptop was 2001, when Apple came out with the titanium PowerBook G4. Needless to say, this MacBook Air was totally worth the eleven-year wait. :cheeky: I *never* get the new technology because I'm usually too cheap to spring for it, so we save for DH's upgrades and I get his old stuff. Let's just say he is very jealous right now and I don't even feel bad about it!

Yay for your new computer, Haven! I just got a new MacAir last week and I agree - it's love! (And I love that sleeve so much - may have to get one too!).

Considered saying my breast pump was my best purchase, but I rented it so doesn't technically count.

My best purchase was a letter puzzle for my older son. He spent hours and hours and hours playing with it. It brought him lots of joy at a very difficult time (preemie baby spent five harrowing weeks in hospital and several months of intensive home care so our blissful calm family life was turned upside down for some time). I seriously am so grateful to that puzzle. Best $20 I ever, ever spent.

Bling wise, my DBTY. Love it.

Awesome!!! I have the first gen. MacBook Air and my old computer was a 12" PowerBook G4 too! I waited 7 years to get this one-I'm also too cheap to spring for new tech stuff. But isn't it crazy how much faster a new computer is? You're gonna sleep with that thing tonight I bet! :cheeky:

Today we just bought this couch and I am pretty jazzed about it:

http://www.mgbwhome.com/AVIGNON-COLLECTIONBR-available-online--P10648.aspx

It'll take like six weeks to be made and delivered so I don't know if it should really count as this year, since it's not like we have it yet, but it is really going to look great in our living room!

Bling-related: my little half-carat OEC that I scooped up off Ruby Lane. It's so cute and flashy! It gets the nod because I got it at such an awesome price. I also got a lot of awesome colored stones, but none were "deals."

Not a purchase at all: When my old car was totaled, my dad gave me his old Prius (2005) so he could buy a new one... and it's saving me around $400 a month in gas! It's definitely the gift that keeps on giving.

My rolling mill. It is far from the best but it meets most of my needs. It has changed the way I work.

Oh Lady D I got one of those too, though I think it was last year. I got a Durston C100 minimill. If I ever get around to bolting it to the worktable it will be much more useful, but I have gotten quite a bit of joy from it already!

Ohhhhhhhh so jealous of both of you! I want a rolling mill so badly but they are SO expensive. The studio where I take classes has one and I love it so much - it really wildly increases the things you can do once you learn how to use it! I especially love combining it with acid etching and acid etching onto brass plates and then rolling it onto the silver (or copper). It makes such delicate, pretty patterns. And is way cheaper than buying pre-patterned sheet metal when you already have access to the mill.

HI:

Cozy lookin sofa! :appl:

I have two!! One is my own John Deere lawn tractor. I've saved a ton doing it myself. The other purchase is my Cannondale carbon frame race bike. I love it, I've always wanted one, and it's exactly what I wanted. Maybe not a practical purchase, but I sold a platinum channel band to purchase it...so it's my own different kind of bling!

HI:

My BIL love his riding his John Deere; and I love riding my bike (although not a  racing bike like yours). You have more in common with folks than ya think!

Dyson Animal DC41 http://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuumcleaners/uprights/dc41/dc41-animal.aspx

My husband is allergic to nearly everything it seems (dust, cat dander, mold) and this seems to cut down on the dust in the flat a lot. He uses it two to three times a week. He loves the carpet cleaner which we've had for a few years and this seems like the perfect companion to it.

HI:

I LOVE DYSON! DID I say I love Dyson??? Gotcha.

cheers--Shaorn

I can't say that I entirely understand. It was more DH's purchase than mine. I wasn't particularly thrilled when he called saying that he'd paid £300 for a vacuum cleaner. But the man uses it faithfully at least twice a week and he's mostly quit sneezing and seems to be feeling better. Since I'm not a huge cleaner I can't actually understand, but I value his health and it's clearly the best vacuum we've ever owned for his allergies!

HI:

My DH bought the Dyson b/c of the technology, and while skeptical, I have come to love that product. Notwithstanding their service is TOP notch (replacing lost parts without question), so I will never buy another product. Works as well as the day we bought it. May you have many yars of "happy" use! :))

The pendant that is my new avatar. (Terrible pic, but it's an avatar...what can ya do?) I had my 1.5 carat round mounted along with a 15- and 6-pointer. Designed by me, executed by in 22 karat by Elizabeth Ryle , one of the current masters of high-karat granulation work. So 1.75 carats of diamond-y goodness for 2012.

No doubt that mine is Poppy. To be perfectly frank, Poppy is the best purchase of my lifetime, in terms of enjoyment extracted per dollar spent.

Awww, I think Poppy is blushing!

Our best purchase of the year was rather mundane: new office chairs. We're both gamers and at our computers probably more than we ought to be, and our old chairs were so worn out that we were having problems (back/shoulder/elbow) from using them. Now we're a lot more ergo and comfortable.

My Thermomix! Can't wait to do some holiday cooking with it.

Bling wise?

My jackets. They pack quite a punch for what they are.

We didn't really make any large purchases for the family or home this year. So, I'll say that my Whiteflash DBTY was my best purchase of 2012. :cheeky:

Although, if you count a vacation as a purchase then my answer would be bringing our 2 year old son to Disney World!

Oh he was beside himself when he met the characters....especially Mickey Mouse! The first time Evan saw Mickey was during a parade and we thought he was going to hyperventilate he was so excited LOL!

Here's a picture of Evan meeting Mickey. It's my absolute favorite picture from the whole trip.

ACK! Cuteness overload! Your Evan is gonna be a heart breaker!

I had to think about this for a LONG time....So I am going to go with a tossup between the:
1) Tiffany Band (words I never thought Id say) despite my rarely wearing it
2) My crossbody LP bag
3) the iPad we got my MIL for bday/xmas.
