HI!

Right now I''m loving the understated elegance look. This was due to my micropave halo setting having this one stubborn diamond falling out at least 4 times in the past 4 months (sigh)!!!! My jeweler has agreed to redo the entire setting for free but now I''m weary of micropaves in general and now want a classic solitaire setting that''s well made and has beautiful claw-like prongs. I might just ask my jeweler to turn the diamonds from my faulty setting and create an eternity band instead...

Any suggestions for a plain but beautifully made solitaire setting?

I''m scared to take the leap too because I''m worried that down the line, it''ll start to look "plain" to me because it''s not a extravagant size stone (1ct).

Stuller Solstice!

Under $300 might be tough to do. I''ve seen a Stuller heavy Tiffany 6 prong online for $270 to $300, but anytime I''ve priced 14k solitaire mountings, the price is closer to $375 or $400 plus a fee to mount the diamond. 18k is even higher. Some of those heavy bezel or half or semi bezel heads from Stuller are $80 or just for the head. Jewelers here charge $100 to change a head plus a fee to set the stone, even if reusing a peg head mounting.

HUGE 2nd - I have this and really like it! Very elegant esp for the price point. It doesn''t look like a "head stuck on a band" like some do - it''s very flowing and shows off the stone very nicely. You can see mine if you click on my posts - I started a thread about my AVC that has a lot of setting pics.
