Best Metal for Pink Sapphire?

What metal do you think suits pink sapphire best: white metal or rose gold? Thanks for your input, folks!

Oh I feel like pink sapphire is one of those gems that looks fabulous in all 3 metal colors! But I do think it can depend on the shade of pink. For instance, if it's quite delicate, white may wash it out and rose might help enhance it. On the other hand, a vivid, cooler purplish-pink may look great in white. And I love the warmer carnation shades in yellow. Did you want to post a photo of the stone?

Thank you! I'm torn between the Tiffany Color by the Yard in silver and the Cartier D'Amour in rose gold. I'm looking for a really tiny splash of color, and these two fit the fill. I don't yet have them in hand, but here are the pictures from the websites. The Tiffany is currently out of stock, but the Cartier is arriving tomorrow. For the Tiffany I prefer platinum, but it currently comes only in silver. Of course the color on both stones could be so washed out that I'll have to look to fulfill my pink sapphire dreams elsewhere;-) I'll post tomorrow when the Cartier arrives. I appreciate your point that it all depends on the shade of the stone. It really makes sense!

Side discussion on metal color.

I almost prefer it when the metal color does not by default enhance the color. Imagine a vivid pink diamond, set it white gold. If its a screaming pink color in a white metal setting, that is much more luxurious to me than if it was in rose/yellow.
Of course most of us are not setting top quality vivid pinks that can withstand that.
Just wondering if you or others have thoughts on this.
Sorry for the slightly thread jack, op.

Oh absolutely! Like you said, I definitely think it depends on the hue, tone, and saturation. I also sometimes like when the metal color and stone are at opposite ends of the color spectrum, for maximum contrast. Case in point, I nearly set my mint garnet in rose gold instead of platinum, for something a little more unexpected... I was thiiiiiiiis close. But ultimately, I wanted an icy look.

Answer based on my preferences: Any colour but white gold because I think white gold is boring and I’m over it

Sensible answer: It depends on the pink I think. If it’s a more candy pink I think then white gold would really make it pop and it might clash with rose gold which to me has a warm hue. If the pink also has a warm hue it would look amazing in rose gold.

This might be helpful but here are my pinks in both colours

I'm a little different and when given the choice I always go with white gold or platinum because it looks best with my skin tone. I do own some yellow and rose gold that were bought pre loved, however. I think with the necklaces you posted I would definitely pick the metal that looks best on your skin.

For whatever it's worth, I have always liked the bezel of the Cartier version. I think it adds a little something extra! I hope you love it when you see it :)

Just received it! The bezel is exquisite!

These are positively exquisite! And I definitely see what you mean about cool vs. warm. Thank you!

Ooh! Good point! I think I look best in warmer colors, so that is a vote for rose gold.

They have arrived and are a gorgeous pink!
