Best lighting for fire?

Hey all another topic,
A but random but I've just got my 2nd. Engagement ring from whiteflash the first one was an ACA & this is an Expert selection,
I'm intrigued about my stone and can't find much when googling about this topic
Both my stones were stunningly beautiful but my first stone seemed to have a lot of fire and I could make it happen by shining my spotlight on my phone on to it or holding it near a candle or something, this stone seems to have mostly white flashes with not much fire happening I'll attach a picture of my old stone so you can see what I'm talking about in case I have the term wrong. I love my new stone but I'm curious as to why this is also when I take a picture with flash it seems more transparent the other diamond thee flashes of colour here are comparison pics

Too many variables to know why you're observing this. It could be difference in cleanliness of the diamonds. Do you keep them clean?

As far as lighting, pinpoint light sources are best for fire. Also, you'll often see fire if you just back up a little bit. The farther away you are, the more likely it is to see colored flashes rather than white light.

And still, there are variables in cut proportions that favor fire over white light return. It's unlikely that the difference is so extreme in your ACA vs EC.

im not sure which is the best "technical" lighting for fire, but i notice the most in the sun with the sun shining from behind me.....or in the car....or in certain lighting (possibly spot lights?)...or the airplane!

ETA: i think the table size has a little to do with fire...my stone is 54% table.

Thanks for the reply, in all pictures posted both of the rings were fresh out of the fedex box so they are definitely clean, I love them both but this one the brightness fascinates me. I just tried the far away trick and it had the same affect perhaps it is the angles but I'm not sure they were much different

Teobdl makes good points, and keeping the diamond clean is a must.

Multiple small but bright light sources are best. The brightest source we have is the sun, but it's a single object. You can change that on a bright day by standing under a leafy tree so the sunlight gets broken up and comes into the diamond from many places. This is a fantastic way to observe multiple optical qualities. If the master bath in your house features a row of bright xenon-filament bulbs running along the top of a mirror, or mirrors it's a great place to observe fire (I have to drag my wife out of the bathroom on our dates sometimes because she's ogling her diamond). Warehouse stores like Costco frequently have hundreds of small bright lights in the ceiling, and many elevator cars have small canned lighting that works nicely. Even the line of small bright lights above the bar in a restaurant can juice your diamond's fire. In a case where the restaurant's other lights are low those bar-lights can produce big, clear visible flashes in all primary colors, inviting comments from others.

I must have a dozen photos like LoveLikeCrazy posted (I'm glad I'm not the only one!). That's always fun. Pull the window-shade down so a sliver of light is coming in, then watch the fireworks show on the plane's walls and ceiling. When you do that you're knocking on the door of ETAS - Effective Total Angular Spectrum - or literally a map of what the diamond "sees" in its universe. This little habit has frequently resulted in a flight-long conversation with the person next to me about diamond performance. Yes, I'm a nerd.

I just had a shower and walked out in the dark and held a lighter to it it did the colour dance I'd say it's a different house = different lighting, regardless this stone has me head over heels ! I think it's love, thanks for your informative posts I'm counting down the days until summer!

As I stood in line at Starbucks this morning for hubby's mocha, I noticed all those tiny overhead lights making all of my diamonds sparkle, showing lots of dispersion and brilliance ... dang, too bad I couldn't take a picture as all the other customers in line would have thought I was weird
