I have researched the best jewelry cleaner for colored gemstones over the past few days because I want to safely restore the shine of my sapphire and emerald pieces. I read reviews on Reddit, gemcare blogs, and Amazon, and these two products consistently come up as top-rated:

Both are known to be gentle and effective, which is important since I don’t want to damage the color or setting of my gemstones. However, I’m still unsure which one would work better for regular at-home cleaning of pieces with emeralds, sapphires, or rubies.

Barring very few exceptions, as a rule, emeralds should never go in an ultrasonic. This has to do with their internal characteristics ("jardin") and possible clarity enhancement. The vibrations can be damaging. I also worry about loosening pave-set stones, so I am one of the few jewelry collectors who never uses an ultrasonic. I use a soft toothbrush, gentle dish detergent (like Dawn), and warm water. It degreases everything with zero concern for damage or disturbing the mountings. HTH! Welcome aboard!!
