Is this my best bet for my pricerange. The flourescence is medium blue, although it is an I color. Should this make for a good combo, or something to worry about? Any other ideas or suggestions? I'm in sort of a time crunch, as I'm looking for an early Jan. proposal.

TIA,

Chad

Thank you for the suggestions! I've emailed WF to get their thoughts. Is a 6.11 vs. a 5.82 diameter going to be noticeable once set? Decisions, decisions.....

What is this PS discount that you speak of?

Thanks,
Chad

I don''t think that .19mm is going to make a difference. If you take 4 $1 bills and press them flat together, that is 1mm. Now, $1 bill is .25mm. The difference you are talking about is less than the width of a $1 bill. I think anyone would be hardpressed to see the difference mounted or unmounted. I''d go for quality over .19mm anyday.

As for the ps discount. Some of the vendors that participate on the site offer ps discounts if you mention that you found them on this forum.

What does anyone think of these? Which would you be choosing? Thanks for any and all help!
Fluorescence would make the I/VS2 white... and the D/Si2 should be clean enough so that nothin shows without compulsive scrutiny and/or magnification.

ANd cut seems nice in all. Pretty hard!

IMO, the I/SI1 does not stand out by any criteria. Between the other two, is left to how good you feal about the "SI2" on the cert. I would expect that a picture of this diamond will set the dispute to rest - it should look darn clean judging from what the clarity plot shows, but seeing is believing.

I have to respectfully disagree with this....in the first place, it''s more than .19, it''s almost .30.

And yes, you absolutely can see the difference between the two. I certainly noticed it when I was out shopping.

Here''s what I found on WF:

.812 ACA H, SI1

.85 G VS2

.83 VS2 G

Sorry if any of these are repeats of earlier posts, but I can''t see to remember if they are due to not being able to see entire thread while responding...which I HATE by the way. Oh well.

You are correct. It sure is more than .19. My number was actually wrong though. The smallest of the bunch is a 5.98 vs. a 6.11. Which makes the difference even smaller. I''m leaning towards the D at this point. They all appear to be very similar to my untrained eye. So, the D color tends to stand out.

Thanks,
Chad

LOL aljdewey! My math skills are horrid!!!!!!!!! I guess to each his own. I had a hard time noticing a difference between a 1.5c and a 2.0c that was mounted. I could, however, see a huge difference between 1.0c and 1.5c....who knows, maybe i am crazy!

Thanks for the suggestions. It''s not that I "want" a D. I''d go as low an an I color for the right stone. It''s just that given that list, the D seems to be the best choice. They''re all roughly the same size and price. So, for me the thing that stands out among them all is the D stone for a bit over $3k. I am however, just a noobie, so if anyone wants to steer me right, feel free.

Thanks,
Chad

Chiming in on noticing mm differences, I think YES a .30mm will make a difference...hugely at that point as well aka in the smaller stones. We compared a 7mm stone to a 7.15mm stone and side by side could see the difference, even when worn on the two hands one looked a tad bigger. I've seen my stone look smaller next to a well-cut 1.5c stone. So I know that if I jumped to 1.6c from a 1.3c, I would see that diff but the mm is only about .40mm jump. Because diamonds don't have a huge jump in mm from ct to ct (aka a 1.5c is about 7.4mm but a 2c is about 8mm), on paper it's only .20mm or .30mm, but your eye will most likely notice a difference, ours noticed it with .15c. Esp with the stones under 1c...I tend to think you notice those jumps more as well.

My two cents! :)
