Hi,
I'm looking to set my 1.3 carat EC in a very simple white gold solitaire setting. I want it to be in the east west orientation, so that I can do the stacking thing with a band or two. I don't want to spend a ton because it's literally just going to be a solitaire. Any tips on how low to set, prongs, etc, and who should I hire to set this for me? How much could I expect to pay? Thanks.

I would talk to David Klass about that setting. There are other vendors that would also do a great job but even for something 'simple' I feel like I get more than I expected from DKJ.

Thanks. I like David...he created the setting that I have now, a very intricate Art Deco baguetted halo that I am very pleased with. It just doesn't fit my extremely casual style. I thought maybe there was another jeweler who might specialize in very simple settings. From what I gather, David's forte is very detailed settings, right?

I don't think there is anything he can't do well. None of my jewelry is very detailed or ornate and he's done most of them. From simple bezel earrings, my wedding ring is an east-west EC with a halo but no frills or extra detail. I like sleek and modern. Let me see if I can get a picture for you.

That'd be great! I've put in an email to DK...don't know if he's working at the moment with everything going on though.

Here's the ring in its current state. I really love it, but I want the more modern stacked look.IMG_6002.jpg

Oh my gosh we are almost ring twins except mine is E-W set. Here's a pic of the earrings. Sorry it's not great nor are they very clean as I removed them for a quick pic.2CF4F9A2-6A1E-48B2-95EB-198CAC4CC1A2.jpeg

I am sure someone here would have a pic of a simple solitaire as well.

I love those earrings! I think a lot of people would think I was crazy to want a reset but I just really like that clean, simple look. DK has emailed me back so I guess he is still working. I'll let you know how it goes!

I want this setting for my emerald cut! :kiss2:

Perhaps stuller and a local jeweler or DK?

Do the above stick out too far on the sides for you?

Not a solitaire but JA has this right now at 25% off.

Not really. He can pretty much do any setting and is fairly budget friendly.

tyty,
I like both of those listed, thanks for those links. How much do you think a local jeweler would charge me for the the Stuller one? I would imagine it would have to be reworked slightly as the dimensions on mine don't fit exactly?

It really depends where you are located @avalonrose. I would ask DK what he would charge (send the link).

I live in an inexpensive area and a few years back my jeweler quoted me $300 on this setting (including setting my stone). Several PSers have
this setting and it is considered nice. That was a few years back though. Not sure what they would charge now.

Edit...and it was for white gold not the X1

DK said he would charge me $950 for the setting that I want...just got an email from him. Is that good?

Sounds like his typical charge for a solitaire. I got the same quote for a solitaire once.
