Hello all,

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here to see if I can get some help from you. :wavey:

I'm inheriting a 1-carat diamond that I'd like to set it in a setting that comes as close to possible as the 1895. I'm not sure yet about plain vs. pave, so recs on both would be great.

I tried searching some old posts about this, and it looks like the Vatche Caroline might come close? Any others I should take a look at?

Also, can I order just the setting from an online vendor and have a local jeweler set it? Is that a common thing that's done? Or would I need to send the diamond out? I don't have any paperwork on the stone since it's being passed down and would rather not have to get it appraised.

Thanks in advance!

It is best to send the stone so the ringmaker can set it. I think Victor Canera's Trueste is a little closer than the Vatche Caroline.

There is a plain version and one with a pave shank and basket:

Thank you, diamondseeker! If I send it out, I'll need to get it appraised then, right? I read somewhere that I need to send a copy of the appraisal with my diamond. Is it pricey to get an appraisal?

Sorry so many questions, don't really know what to do.
