Bella's OEC Pendant Project

ForteKitty,

In the event that you happen to stop back in here, does your pendant have a thread in SMTB? It looks perfect!!

Thanks, Loves Vintage!! I didn't do a thread for it. It's a 1.36ct oec in the ST range. (maybe QR?) Set in YG and attached to the beaded chain. It's my favorite necklace right now because it never flips and always stays put.

LV-I can't wait to see your pendant! :appl: and Forte's is indeed gorgeous!

FYI-Sally says that pendant flipping has more to do with chain weight than attachment of the chain to the pendant...I would imagine it is some of both. Anyway, they know that I strongly don't want this pendant to flip and think that my chain is a great weight to help make that happen (not too heavy and not too light).

They are still making it, but when it is here I'll definitely report back re flipping.:-)

Oh, thanks for responding. You're a girl that loves a big oec!! I envy your collection! Is the setting a stock setting?

That's interesting. I have a pendant from years and years ago, on a very thick chain (that I do not like) and when it was threaded through the bezel, it flipped forward. So, they then attached it to the sides instead, and it never flipped. Totally leaning toward a bead chain now. You wouldn't happen to have any more pics of that jbeg pendant, would you?

LV- I only have that one photo saved. if I remember right, I wasn't such a fan of the side view, it sort of looked like the straight sided bezel sliders but had some oblong cut outs...

     It's done!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll do a proper SMTB thread when it is here, but here are the shots from Sally!

Love it! :appl: :appl:

It's brilliant! What a clever design and beautifully done!! I'll keep an eye out for your SMTB, and thanks again for your help!

:appl:  :appl:

Its beautiful BellaMezzo!!!! Just perfect!!! I love everything about it!!! Well worth all that communication back and forth with Sally - you guys collaborated to create a beautiful pendant - I can't wait to see the neck shots, once it finally arrives in your hands - woo hoo!!!!!

thanks Vin, LV and Enerchi!

I can't wait to see it...so excited for this piece:-) Is it bad that I am already thinking about the next projects I want to try to do:-) :cheeky:

BAd??? no not at all! Normal PS behaviour - TOTALLY!!

 It's here and it is GORGEOUS!!!!! It arrived last night, but it was also my son's first day of school and things were a little nutty so I didn't get photos yet. I am going to try tonight, but it might be tomorrow...

Anyway, it is beyond amazing! The inside milgrain is the perfect touch. The Mickey Mouse ears are a little bigger than I thought they'd be but still lovely and the back is plainer than I originally wanted, but is lovely and simple.

So far, it doesn't flip :appl: it sometimes migrates to one side of my neck a little, but it's not bad. It's super comfortable and the chain is PERFECT!!!!! (2 mm sparkly bead chain is a.ma.zing! thank you Forte and Athena!!!!)

it looks HUGE! Going from a .4 ct K to a .9 ct 6.5mm probably G is a big change :naughty: :naughty: and this stone looks so incredible all cleaned up. Yay ebay!!!!! That old setting was truly hiding a diamond in the rough!

DH thinks it is "very white and very sparkly".

He also said "don't you have earrings that go with that pendant?" I

said, "yes I do...I am wearing them" (my bezel leverback earrings, with a .25 ACA melee diamond in each)

he went "oh, they look kind of small, and not very white    I

was like "yeah, I think maybe when I am done with my MBA I should upgrade the earrings :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: he just laughed....

So, maybe in a year I'll upgrade to bigger studs/leverback or diamond hoops...depends on our budget situation at that time, but at least DH noticed:-)

Really this pendant is incredible, the facet pattern looks gorgeous, it is blazing white, and HUGE!

Pics tonight or tomorrow, I promise!

Bella, the pics look gorgeous! Please post some more shots - I was anxious to see how this turned out!

I would alos like to see it!!

Can you give me your impressions of the chain and its sturdiness too? I am thinking of getting the same one for my one-day-maybe-future pendant!

I have yet to make it outside to take some shots and tried to take some at work today in the bathroom (better lighting than at home) but the cleaning crew was in there, and I have not yet made it to that level of PS crazy:-)

So, here are a few crappy indoor shots in my bathroom to show size perspective for the chain and stone. I haven't taken it off since I got it, partially b/c i love it and partially b/c it is so comfortable that I forget it is on. This necklace and my leverbacks are perfect for me, low maintenance, go with anything, so comfy I forget they are on and can wear them 24/7 (though i'd love the earrings even more if they were bigger:-)

Dreamer, the chain is perfect. Super sparkly and visible, but still really dainty. Plus it is smooth, comfy, and great quality--awesome clasp, just heavy enough to feel substantial, but light and fluid.

And the stone, is white white white and SO sparkly! my goals for this pendant were "big, sparkly, and white" ding ding ding :appl: :cheeky:

LOVE IT!

I'll take real shots this weekend...really:-)

and please ignore the general hideousness of the photos. Snapped in my bathroom, post bath/bedtime for my son, after a long day at work :wink2:

BUH-LINDING BLING!!!  That looks HUMUNGOUS!!! 8-) what a fantastic setting job and your diamond is amazing!!! (it distracts from the cleavage... ;)) )

:appl: :appl: :appl:

It looks so great on you!!! I've been stalking your thread to see if you've posted pics. PLEASE post more pics. What length chain did you go with? It lays just perfectly on your neck. Now I need to find a beautiful OEC like yours so I can make one just like this. I can't wait to see more!

Do you find that it flips at all? What about sliding up around your neck? Anything you'd change about it? I emailed Sally yesterday to get a quote for this. I can't believe how incredibly beautiful this turned out. Like wearing a piece of art! Congrats!

:appl: thanks Enerchi and Jill!

I got the 18in chain but had Sally shorten it to 17.5 just because I could :wink2: and 18 seemed just a touch too long.

i have worn it 24/7 for the past 4 days and it has flipped once but I think that I pushed it into the flipped position while putting my purse on. The diamond is so lovely and the basket is gorgeous so even when it was flipped it still looked nice, just a little different (like a flower with some diamond glimmer coming through:-) But, that's only happened once. I think between the chain weight, stone size, chain length, and basket, this is a great option for a pendant that rarely flips! and it is soooo comfortable!!!!

It does drift slightly to the side of my collarbones instead of dead center a little sometimes, but it's not a big deal and it is still sparkling and face up and visible when that happens:-)

It's absolutely lovely! Congratulations!

HI:

Well done!!

cheers--Sharon

Hi Bella! came back to admire your pendant some more, it really turned out great. Your patience with this project paid off.

I have a rather random request. Can you post a photo of the clasp ends of your chain? I would like to order it but am hoping to see the the nature of the attachments that they use. My pendant has a bail and I am wondering if the smaller side of the clasp will fit through my bail without having to alter it :)) Thanks lady!

Never mind bella, I was able to get some from another PSer with this chain! :wavey:

Hello,
if any of you ladies are still around could you please tell me the ebay seller of the chain? The posted link doesn't work anymore and I am looking for a chain for my new oec pendant :)

oops, sorry. found the answer in another thread. never mind!

Hi Bella! I'm new to Pricescope! I'm sorry for contacting you in this way but was unsure of how to contact someone as a first time user. I just wanted to say that I have fallen in love with your lace wedding band made my LOGR! I actually came across your post from looking up Michael B and looking on PS. I hope you don't mind but...I have looked everywhere myself... for a while and can't find anything like Micahel B's rings. There was someone who made on PS similar to yours in 2009 but WF no longer make custom bands unless you buy a large diamond. Micahel B and the local jewlers want thousands which is out of my price range too. I really interested in getting this made as an anniversary ring to celebrate 14 years together with my husband.. I was wondering since it's been a while if your still happy with your ring and... if not to get to personal... what size diamonds merlee did you use and thickness in band size? I was thinking of doing a the same design but maybe a slighly bigger diamond in the middle and two smaller diamonds on the side of the lace design. Or just three small merlee diamonds. Did you also have Stephen include diamonds in the cutout on the sides? Sorry I'm asking so many questions! Yours is the first I found that looks beautiful and something I can do in my price range. I hope to hear from you. I'm not sure if your still on PS anymore? Thank you so much!
