I''m having a clam bake wedding in August of 2005.

My question is 2fold.

1. Any ideas for beachy invitations? Making them myself, so it has to be reasonably prices!
2. I know that I can''t write anything about dress code on the invitation, but how can i get across to people that my wedding is causal, but not jeans and sneakers, more like khakis and sundresses, etc. What is good wording for that type of dress?

Thanks for your ideas!

What a great idea! Would the dress be considered "dress casual"?

Maybe it's helpful to spread the word of sundress and khakis by having your Maid of Honor and friends spread the word as well...?

How big will the wedding be? We're having a small beach wedding next May on Folly Beach, SC and plan for it to be dress casual as well. Besides talking to everyone about the dress code we'll probably put a reminder note in with the invitations.

In terms of wording, try "casual chic".

there are 200 guests, so it's pretty big, but still, I'm trying to stay relaxed.

Here's my "knot" bio: http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=Treysar

That should give you an idea of the look I'm going for.

Thanks guys!

We're only having around 40 people at the wedding so it'll be a lot easier than with a large wedding.

I like the clam bake idea. We're gonna do a Charleston SC version of a clam bake - a lowcountry beach dinner.

Treysar...I just looked at your knot bio...we have very similar taste...same centerpieces, and we used messages in a bottle for table names of local beaches in Massachusetts...our invites had faint shells on them as well. Would have loved to have gone w/ Cranes or William Arthur, but just couldn't justify spending an extra $1K on something people other than us would just throw away eventually...We looked all over the place for beachy invites that were not tacky or shiny. Finally found very subtle ones at a company called nu-art breeze, I think they're a division of rexcraft. I'll keep looking...and by the way, great ring and great taste in wedding decor!! klr

i just looked, they're from a division of birchraft...but I couldn't find them...sorry. The point is though, you can get invites cheap that look nice!

try going to www.mypersonalartist.com. They specialize in handmade beachy invities, they can even scent them to smell like suntan lotion, you can buy a do it yourself kit from them which is pretty reasonalble
