Sharon,

I can HIGHLY recommend Hansgrohe. Fantastic quality and fantastic service. I got a faulty shower valve (Um, I actually ordered it via Ebay, someone was liquidating it) and they overnighted me the part to fix it no questions asked!. We also have a Hansgrohe kitchen faucet and we bought all the other shower pieces from Hansgrohe when Expo Design went out of business.

The quality and features are outstanding. The rainshower hand shower has this rubbery stuff on it so that when a little mineral deposit clogs it, you just run your fingers over it to remove it. The main shower handle has two settings - one sets your temperature and one turns it on. I hate, hate, hate having to mix the temp when I get in the shower (and get scalded or cold while mixing it) - so, voila - it's set to the exact same temperature every time I turn on the shower! Yay! We also have the shower bar with the attachable raindance hand shower so I can adjust the height since I'm short and taller guests/hubby can put it up higher.

Thanks! I meant Hansgrohe! I love my kitchen faucet--it is a thing of beauty and function. Glad they stand behind their product. That temp technology is worth seeking....

Ha! You're trying to trick me!! But I'm taking NOTES. Hansgroghe, not Grohe. Right. ;-) (jk)

OOO! I just got home! Hubs picked up my doorknobs and seat! Must go look! :appl:

Grrr. They didn't give me my single lockset. Five are just passage sets but one was supposed to be a lockset. Guess hubs, who didn't check them there at the store, gets to take one back for me. Silly man.

HI KS:

Bummer about the hubby--I mean the missing lockset.... :saint: ;)) . Hope it isn't a long trip to the store...if it were me I wouldn't be going anywhere today cuz of the 5 cms of SNOW on the driveway.....I am off to shovel....oh grohe is me....

HI:

Making tea in the foyer & washing cups in the BR sink....remind ME again why I am reno'ing my kitchen! ugh...

Hi Sharon, I missed this thread and glad your projects all went well!

We have granite in most of our bathrooms (except for one bathroom at the beach house which has marble) and I would go with these choices again. It is easy to clean and looks good IMO. We have different color schemes in each bathroom so we chose granite that would complement each look. For example, my master BR in Brooklyn has blue bisazza glass tiles (so pretty) so the granite I chose has black with some blue in it for that bathroom. My dh's bathroom has green bisazza so his granite has some green in it. And so on and so forth.

Good luck with the rest of your renos! It's so satisfying to be able to look at a room/house and know it is exactly as you saw it in your vision.

HI:

I am not very good with the niggly bits of decorating--I find it tiresome. That said, putting in the effort does show in the outcome, and yes, it is satisfying. I have complicated granite in the kitchen and will carry it through to the powder room on the main floor; the granite might not be identical but close enough. The tile will be the same for all BR's (except I might get some Walker Zanger in the ensuite---blame KSinger!), but I won't use the repeat the granite that is in the basement.

I can understand finding it tiresome. We did our last major reno in 2004 and it was exhausting! And we weren't doing it-our contractors were lol but the mental energy involved was huge. Picking each little thing out and thinking and rethinking each decision. Having said that though I sort of wish I could relive it a bit as when I went through it the first time I wasn't as prepared as I would be now. I was a newbie to gut jobs and renovations in general as it was my very first and while I am pleased with everything we did I could tweak a few things to make them even better. However, my dh doesn't share my wish to redo anything lol.
But, stay tuned, because in the not too far future (well, less than 10 years hopefully) we are redoing the beach kitchen and I know exactly what I want this time!

Moi?? :saint: :saint: :saint: I have NO idea what you're talking about.

HI:

Once again revisiting and bumping up my own thread!  We have just finished the main BR reno--and very happy with the results. Gorgeous Kohler tub, and fixtures/faucets/hardware. Natural maple cabinets, TOTO toilet, and Italian ceramic tile, floor to ceiling. And no towel racks and/or toilet paper roll recessed in the walls!!!!! Nice clean lines.

Soon we will start the powder room, and wanted some opinions. I am getting the Kohler Briolette sink posted in page 1 of this thread. I like the way the faucets (in the Kohler AD/picture) sit, but my renovator suggested the spout coming from the wall above instead. I have only seen this is photos and don't know anyone personally to ask about functionality/practicality.

Does anyone have this arrangement? Do you like it? Any regrets? I wonder if there would be a lot of "splash" vs. a spout that is lower to the vessle sink. (yes, water pressure can be decreased...). It would require more tiling but that is OK.

cheers--Sharon

HI:

BTW Rainwood, I took your advice and tried out the tub in the Kohler showroom....women raised their eyebrows while the husbands made "comments'. I bought the tub cuz it was comfy! Thanks!
