Basic FAQ on pearls

Hi. I'm new to this forum and have been researching diamonds. I'm also in the market for pearl necklaces and I couldn't find any FAQ on the basics on what to look for pearls, trusted vendors that most PS members purchase from, and differences between cultured and sea pearls. Can anyone suggest some basic FAQs and posts I can look through to find this info? Thank you.

I have personally bought from the ones I bolded in the list but I would add Jose from Tahitipearl.biz. I have a strand of wss from Jose. Very nice man to work with too. And Josh from Kamoka Pearls. And Douglas from Sea of Cortez. Have bought pearls from these pearl farmers directly.
