Barrel Shaped Aqua is Here

The barrel shaped aqua from Michael came today and I think I will keep it. When you look at it and when it''s in the sunshine it looks more blue but in other light it shows it''s green. It''s just a tad lighter than my pear from Michael, 7.76 x 6mm barrel shape. He''s pretty sure the rough was unheated and when you see my pics I think you will agree. This pic is a sun pic where it''s more blue and matches the pictures Michael took.

Thanks guys! D&T, yes I''m going to keep it. It really is a gorgeous and very lively stone and is very close in color to my pear which is also unheated. Here''s one of Michael''s pics which is close to my first pic.

Unheated aquas tend to have a greenish cast which is becoming more desirable these days. I prefer a little green in aqua as well. Congratulations on your new gem!!

Chrono, it will be a ring. Michael says it should fit in a standard 8 x 6 emerald cut setting and would look lovely with split prongs.

Thanks gecko and brandy!! I''m having it set in this setting. I''ve always liked the setting but not so much with the peridot so the peridot is coming out and the aqua is going in.

My jeweler is remaking the prongs into split prongs. It should be back in another week and I can''t wait.
