Wondering what some of your experiences are on this... I hardly ever wear my tennis bracelet because it just seems heavy and clingy and it pinches my arm hairs! (Ok, so maybe part of that is just a personal problem!) but I am wondering, does anyone find a bangle more comfortable to wear? Are there any unforseen problems I am going to have with one? Currently, my tennis is about 4 ct, but it has inclusions. It was an estate peice that my hubby got for me 8 yrs ago or so. I love it in terms of sparkle, it has very nicely cut diamonds, they really are full of life, but up close, I can see carbon in many of the stones, so I guess I was thinking of trading it in or up anyway. Actually, I would probably not be able to get 4 ct in the clarity that I want right now, I would probably have to go with something smaller. Does anyone have a 1-2 ct bangle that they really love? Do inclusions bother anyone in terms of their tennis or bangles? What are your feelings on comfort if the tennis were smaller and lighter? Maybe I could do a smaller, lighter, cleaner tennis? I just don''t know!

Hi,
I''m wondering the same thing, so hopefully someone can chime in. I tried a 2 ct tennis the other day and it was the PERFECT size, but it was horribly included, so I was just trying for size. The one nice aspect of a tennis is it''d be easier to size. The tennis bracelet I tried on was 7" and was too big on my wrists, so that is something for you to consider re: the bangle style.

bangles never seem to work for me. . . I dont care for how rigid they are and they''re always too big for me for some reason.
Maybe you need to try a different style tennis bracelet? I wear an almost 6 cttw daily and had it sized down and it''s perfect, I don''t really even notice it so much and it doesn''t pull my hairs

Or maybe bangles are better for you!

HI:

I have owned two tennis bracelets with round stones and have given both of them away to my sisters. I simply got tired of them after a decade of wear. Three years ago I had a diamond bangle made from a stock setting and altho stunning, was too thin and fractured in several places causing a loss of stones. I had the bracelet remade/custom--heavier--and now I wear it without worrying about instibility. Very costly endeavour. Thing is, where I live we wear heavy coats 4 months of the year and I hate the feeling of that bangle against my wrist inside my sleeve (I know that sounds lame) so I don''t wear it, plus the on and off is always worrysome as I have had other bracelets stay behind in the sleeve.... However, my diamond bangle is realy stunning and I love it otherwise--looks like a full eternity band on my wrist.

Recently I have been thinking of getting another tennis style bracelet, but with square emerald cut ctones to match my eternity ring. It is around 11 carats of VVS stones and it is really stunning. But my DH would probably throw me out on the street if he saw it

I just got a tennis bracelet for my birthday and I have been wanting one, it is such a basic, daily item. I was worried they were out of style and posted about it but got comfortable that it is still a classic piece. I also have bangles, which I save for going out since they can get banged into things and I stack mine up so they clink and clack too, which all day long would annoy me. Maybe your tennis bracelet needs to be reset or the setting addressed so it does not do that to your arm! Ouch. But you should be able to wear it if you like it.

11 cts WOULD be stunning. My issues with bracelets would be they''d get in the way while doing dishes! lol Now THAT is lame when so much of one''s life is spent in the kitchen they need to alter jewelry wearing to accomodate!

I hear you, Sharon, and it''s not lame at all. I live in Minnesota, and bracelets are more of a summer thing for me. Many of them can''t be seen in the winter with long sleeves, so what is the point?

I prefer flexible bracelets and with short sleeves.

Stay warm. The temperature here is currently 1 deg F and falling.....

Oh the perfect bracelet dilemna! I've had both. Bangles can be rather heavy and knock around on things. Tennis bracelets can catch on stuff or get caught up in your sleeves. Yet both styles are too beautiful not to own one. My favorite everyday bracelet has ended up being my Tiffany Swing platinum link style bracelet with tiny little diamonds. It is just so subtle and sparkly and comfortable to wear. Because it is 7 inches it is a little big and falls down below the cuffs on my long sleeved shirts and it never catches on anything. It is important to try on different styles and sizes of bracelets to help you make a good choice.

Edited to add: Sharon if you get that bracelet you better post some pictures for us!!! And Diamondfan we are still waiting to see your new beauty!

I personally don''t care for bangles. I work in in front of a computer all day and find that I bang my bangles too much. I wouldn''t want to scratch it, especially with platinum. I have 2 diamond bracelets that are not the traditional tennis style but I love. They are both only 1 ctw, but each looks great on my very small wrist. I typically wear 6 1/2 inches. With 1 bracelet I had 2 links taken off and made into a pair of earrings. With the other, I had 4 links taken off that I wear as a pendant. Both vendors were happy to do for free and I got more jewelry out of my bracelets.

I bought myself a diamond tennis bracelet years ago. It was included and I couldn't enjoy wearing it. I finally sold it. I have a bar and diamond bracelet now. The catch keeps getting caught up on my clothing, so that's not working either. Bangles are difficult for everyday use, because I take notes during my sessions with my clients. The bangles kind of restrict movement. I'm still looking for the right diamond bracelet. I like Sundial's swing bracelet or a smaller tennis bracelet iwth a hidden clasp.

I just returned a 2ctw bangle to Whiteflash. It was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous!! I returned it because it spun a bit too much for my liking, and I wear long sleeves a lot (I live in Maine) so the bracelet was alway up my sleeve and I was constantly sliding it down. I knew I wouldn''t wear it much because of these reasons, so I decided I didn''t want it.

If you are in the market for a bangle, I highly recommend the WF one! It just wasn''t for me, personally.

I'm so glad this thread was started. . . I've been wanting both a diamond bracelet and the jackets too, but that is entirely do to seeing pictures here on PS and it doesn't seem like the bracelet is even practical. lol Possibly I should save for something I would wear, like another pendant.

Im starting to agree with you there! Maybe I should put the money elsewhere. Between the tennis bracelet and the diamond antique Omega watch, I NEVER wear them. This is a problem that needs solving!

.....I relate to you saying that your delicate Tiffany bracelet is beautiful and functional; as the revival piece I bought from JA three years ago is the same for me. Small carat weight and single cuts, but beautifully executed and really comfy and secure. I have always gotten more compliments on that bracelet than more substantial pieces I own....

I love to wear bangles, and love the look of them, but ever since I scratched the paint on my car with one I''ve stayed away from wearing them often. I don''t have a tennis bracelet, I would love to have one. I''d probably go for bezel set because I''d want to wear it 24/7.

does anyone have the 1 ct bangle from whiteflash? im feeling like i want to go dainty and light. is that too light and small though? i dont know about going too small.

It depends upon what you want. I think that would be a terrific size for an everyday look. I have the Whiteflash 3 carat bangle and it is just gorgeous, but it is more something I wear when I want to up the "bling factor".

Sharon I would happily take you (and your lovely jewelry) in as well.

Can you believe we even have snow here in sunny New Mexico though? We are having a cold winter.

i think i want to try to do an everyday size that goes with my e-ring. the e-ring has such delicate micropave that the 4 ct tennis just looks clunky with it. maybe the whiteflash 1.5ct would go kind of both ways, day and night?

if anyone has a whiteflash in that size, post it!

I wear a tennis style bracelet everyday and don''t have any problems with them at all. My first few bracelets were bangles and I liked them but they banged on things all the time so I usually took them off.

gee, i should do my homework first! i just searched for threads on this topic. i found the one you started when you were trying to decided on your bangle size. there were links to different tcw in there, and, for me, i really like the look of the 1 or 1.5, looks like it would be hard to make up my mind between the two. they look just perfect for what i want, but i am hearing so much talk about how bangles bang on things, now i''m scared! i just know i hate wearing my tennis though. its alwasy stuck on my arm and pinching my hairs. not to mention heavy. i can''t believe i''m saying this, but i want a smaller bracelet. i guess i can always try it, since they are returnable. how long did it take to get yours? im so impatient!
