Looking at having a marquise set east-west in a custom setting. I want melee 1/2 way down the shank but am unsure how wide a shank to request.

Few things about me:
-long skinny fingers so I can wear a thicker ring
-very clumsy so the stronger the better
-will wear every day
-will wear with matching band on same finger so don''t want it to be too big together

Also I want some decent looking diamonds, not chips.

I spoke with Bob at Whiteflash, who recommended 3-3.5 mm. Is that too small for me? The diamond is 5.5 mm tall, 10 mm long.

I know, I need to go try some on to get a feel but wanted to get opinions on what will look good first, thanks!!

I think a 3/3.5mm band would look lovely, especially if you want a more contemporary, solid look. I wouldn''t go bigger if you want a matching band though, ''cause 6/7mm is quite a thickness on your finger.

I would try on rings locally so you can get a feeling on what certain widths look like on your finger. I have small hands (I am short) and my wedding set is a combined 8.5 mm so I think you *could* go wider than 3.5 mm each if you want.
