I went into the jeweler today to have my prongs tightened because after only 2 weeks, my stone was clicking in the setting! i could sliiiightly shift it with my finger. So the original jeweler took it back no problem and tightened it in 20 minutes.

While I was there I tried on wedding bands. I was so sure I wanted a channel or shared prong but after trying a bunch on, I am feeling like I might justs o plain platinum! Everything I put on my finger took away from the deicateness of my ering. The channel band in the picture is full of 6 pointers, i felt like it was wayyy too large:-(

ICU, i think this band does take away from your solitaire, but that doesn't mean that you can't find something more suitable

have you tried other styles or something more delicate?

this band in the pic takes away from your e-ring but I would try on a shared prong...I think the metal in the channel setting is getting in the way with the look you are hoping for. You can also try on eternity bands that have smaller stone szs

Or even a curved band. I can''t tell if this ring would sit flush or not. As Fickle says, thinner would be better to compliment your e-ring.

thinner, with smaller pointer size, and less metal would probably complement your ering. since the shank of your ering is quite thin and delicate. Beautiful btw

I''m in the minority here but i like them together, alot.

i like it too. More bling is delicious!

Ditto.

What about a single shared prong, like the memoire purity? Or a bezel band? Or even a thin pave/micropave.

Thank you so much for your replies and help -- I definitely think the super thin shared prong is still in the running. Or a Pave, but I owuld have to see it on. My ring does NOT sit flush with anything! so annoying. It''s a low set x-prong setting. So on top of the wedding band being thin, i need to get used to it begin "not" flush, or i''ll have to get a curved band which may not look good so thin.

buffy - Thank you for your pics....the reason i think yours looks good with those bands are because your ering is so thick. proportion will be my issue:-( its a shame because i love both bling and proportion!

gecko - thanks for the suggestions.....i actually tried a bezel type band but it was totally not flush....and i didnt like it as much as the channel or shared prong. here it is.....

I just love a diamond band with a simple solitaire. While your ring may shine more by itself there is just something drool-worthy about a diamond band WITH a solitaire.

i would much rather wear it like this forever:-D FH doesn''t like that idea....hahah

Oh gosh, I really like it with the second band you posted (bezels). I think the cool thing about a simple solitaire is that you can go so many ways. Maybe a thin pave band? I think the less metal you see the more you''re going to like it.

you have lovely hands

i say try on a few more and i''m sure you''ll find a match, i practically tried on everything in the store before i found one i loved with my ring, and yours is a solitaire so tons of options, will it really bother you if nothing is flush?

I LOVE that bezel set wedding band with your ring! I think the two really complement one another.

I really liked the bezel band with your solitaire. However, because your e-ring band is so thin, I think a more delecate bezel band would look stunning. How many points was the one in the photo?

I love the bezel band with your ring, too, but totally understand the frustration about the rings not sitting flush. I know a couple women who have chosen to wear a wider wedding ring, and make the ering a right hand ring. Something to consider

I settled on a 2mm Tiffany Legacy band. The diamonds are small and very, very sparkly. The milgrain softens the edges. I think you just need to try on rings with smaller stones.

ICU--I really like that bezel you tried on.

Also, may I just say you have the MOST BEAUTIFUL NAILS!!! (What do you ask for when you get them done?--sorry for the sidetrack).

ETA: I hope you find a band that you are happy with!

I like your ring with the bezel band the best or a thinner channel set band. I love your nails too

I like the bezel best with your ring and agree with others that maybe a thin bezel would work. You have a lovely e-ring.

I would have to agree with everything here! I think the bezel with dainty milgrain and smaller diamonds would be really cute

---- and your nails are fantastic!!! I've never gotten mine done... I'm a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to nails (aka, I'm cheap) ... but if I knew what to ask to get nails that look like yours

ETA: maybe you could get two cute little dainty bands to go on either side to balance it out??

i think the band does take away a little from your e-ring. not a lot though, so if you decided to get a band like the first one, i think it'll look nice. like the others suggested, maybe you could try on a smaller band to accentuate your delicate shank...although i'm loving that bezel band! here's my single shared prong eternity band stacked with my itty bitty 5 stone band. the e-band is 1 ctw (the stones are 5 pointers) and it might not look like it in the pic, but it's much more delicate IRL. btw, your e-ring is divine and your hands are gorgeous!

I love the bezel setting! I think it''s perfect.

ms halo - i definitely agree with the "less metal" policy... the thing i loved most about my solitaire is that it is LESS setting, more diamond. i would love to stick with that theme.!

4ever - i''m not sure how many points they were, i was actually so discouraged by this point at the store (i had tried on many other overbearing ones that really turned me off so i just stopped asking! The jeweler is on 5th avenue, upper east side manhattan so i have a feeling this is what contributed to the overbearing nature of all their "demo" bands. The jeweler only does custom pieces. i will have to go down to the diamond district and take my time with different sizes and styles.

diamond seeker - i love your band...i''m definitely going to tiffany''s to try it on! my ering is like a super thin lucida (bc of the xprong) and i wear a lot of tiffany;s so i think that simple classic look is more my taste. still love the bling though!

vip - thanks for the inspiration, i love your single prong eternity, it makes the diamonds really look round, which gets lost easily when they are so tiny and smooshed together. it looks delicate.

Thank you everyone for your opinions and compliments - and as for my nails, i get something called the permanent french, but here in NYC at dashing diva they started doing something new called "gelife" which is like super hard shiny nailpolish. it''s two thin coats of UV gel over the french mani. It''s pretty expensive (like $55), but it lasts weeeeeeks without chipping. Plus since I just got engaged and everyone keeps grabbing my hand, i figured it was a good occasion to spend money on my nails:-D i love getting them done though, thats definitely my "splurge" of choice.

I wear my e-ring alone on my left hand, and then my wedding band and my grandmother''s ring on my right hand for exactly the same reason you posted this thread--I feel like *anything* paired with my e-ring takes away from it!

Here''s my e-ring alone, which is how I wear it on my left hand:

SunCloseUpPS2pssssssss.jpg

Here''s my set, which I no longer wear together because I think my wedding band takes away from my e-ring:

Havenssetpsassddfpsssssss.jpg

And here''s how I wear my wedding band now, with my grandmother''s ring, on my right hand. I''d wear these on my left hand, but my grandmother''s ring is too small for my left ring finger, it fits better on my right.

SO, I guess what I''m trying to say is if you don''t find a wedding band that you love, you don''t have to wear them together!

I would try to find either a plain band to suit or maybe 3pt shared prong with that size solitaire - one on either side looks great too! I totally agree that you don''t want a blingy wedding band taking away the spotlight from you er, but everyone is different
