I have this antique bakelite cheroot with a band of stones. From research, I've managed to find a handful of others at auction houses or shops online and they all are diamonds. I haven't found one with faux diamonds such as glass, cubic zirconia, moissante, paste etc.

Any ideas. I looked through the X10 loupe and the edges looked sharp and actually the lines looked dirty and inclusions . Have no experience with comparing these different stones so excuse my ignorance.

Any thoughts. Better pictures needed?

You can buy a relatively inexpensive diamond tester pen on Amazon - less than $20.00. And most jewelers (and reputable pawn shops) would be happy to test those stones for you at no cost. I’m sure they’d be just as curious about them as you are!

Moissanite and CZ weren’t around in the Bakelite era, but I think another synthetic spinel might have been. Other colorless natural stones, including Sapphire and natural spinel, are also a possibility.

Please let us know what you find out!

Thanks a lot. yes, I've been meaning to get one of those testers. Yes, I'm sure they would test for free. I did gold once but felt a fool when it was just base metal.hehe
