Baguette Side Stone Confusion

Hello Helpful and Intelligent PS People! I tried on a ring with baguette side stones and decided that I love the look of long thin tapered baguette side stones with a round center.
This got me thinking... Is there a reason that there are always two baguettes next to each other?

Every setting I have seen has two angled tapered baguettes on either side of the ring instead of singles. Do they not look good solo?
A local jeweler also told me that baguettes get dirty very easily and advised against them. Is that true?


I tried to read previous posts and didn't find very much.

I'm not sure that's what is being depicted in the BE pic - I think it's just the way the steps of the baguettes are portrayed. I have the Vatche version, and the baguettes are 1 on each side. I've not had a problem keeping the baguettes clean.

You can find setting with both single and paired baguettes.

I agree with @ecf8503 that the BE ring is really a single pair of baguettes that is filmed oddly. Here's an IRL photo where you can see the baguettes are a single pair.

This setting looks like two baguettes as a quick glace, but it is tapered bullets.

This is the way in which step cut diamonds play tricks with our brains....
Step-Cuts create an optical illusion. They tend to appear dirty more so than brilliant Cuts because of the way & manner in which they are designed, but I would never deter someone from purchasing a ring that had step cut diamonds; they are easy to clean & gorgeous!!
I love the settings you have selected!! They are classics!!

You've got two issues here. First, some designs have two tapered baguettes on each shoulder because it's cheaper to get two baguettes than it is to do two single larger baguettes.

Second, ALL diamonds get dirty easily! They are magnets for grease, so whether you've got round diamonds or emerald cuts and baguettes, they are going to look bad if you don't keep them clean. That being said, yes step cuts show the grease more readily because it's like putting finger prints and smudges on a mirror. Brilliants can hide that a little because they're more sparklie. If you love the look of tapered baguettes, go for it! Grease washes off when you wash your hands with dish soap wearing your ring, or when you clean your ring. Enjoy what you love!

I used to have a ring with side baguettes...they are very subtle in my opinion. A few people commented that they didnt realize they were diamonds
and not just metal (mine were not large). My main complaint with them is finding a wedding band that works with them. The main stone was
a pear...I ended up with a 5 stone (round) wedding band because thats all that I could find to go with it. I didnt particularly think the band went with
it very well but it was the best I could find.

Make sure you have an idea of what kind of wedding band you would like and that it goes with the baguette setting you like.
