EEE! I may have to start a new thread!!! I''m so excited. There is this wonderful local jeweler in Austin called Kruger''s. They have a wonderful reputation for working with their clients and being very flexible with pricing. I just went on my lunch break (they''re a few blocks from me downtown) and I''m in love!
I saw a 1 carat oval, G, SI2 (which even she said could probably be an SI1 because the tiny inclusion was borderline in the table) that shined like heaven!! (No apparent bow-tie!) For settings, I looked at a lot of them, but then I saw this intricate engraved simple setting in 18K that I adored. I never though about an engraved band! I really loved it... She said since I had a preference for platinum, that I should consider palladium to stay within budget. My BF said our max is now $7K (after he ran the numbers) and she said she could easily get us a wonderful 1 carat oval with an engraved palladium setting for that price, if not less.

I tried on a round, and... I didn''t care for it. They didn''t have a marquise for me to try on so I may try another store after work to see if I can get an idea of what a marquise would look like. I wish I would have snapped a picture (I had my camera in my purse) but I was so blinded by the pretty that I didn''t think about it.
The 1 carat looked big enough on my hand... oh! and I wear a size 6! She asked to size my hand because I didn''t look ''like a seven''. And I''m a 6. (A ''fleshy'' six, lol with little knuckles to be exact).
