I'm super worried now that you might decide to not do your TSA Precheck based on what I told you.

But if I remember correctly, at least in my area, getting an interview for the Global Entry took much longer to get than the one with the TSA. So don't risk it if your trip is close.

What I ended up doing - because I found out about the Global Entry only after I had already done the TSA Precheck and TSA will not refund under any circumstances - was pay an additional $100 for the Global Entry (US Customs will not apply the $85 you already paid for Precheck.) So I ended up paying $185. :/

I hope you see this so you can make a judgment call as to what is best for you based on when your trip is.

CJ, I believe Kristie's appointment was earlier this morning. Please don't worry. She won't do anything to risk not getting her TSA Precheck in time for her trip.

Hi CJ and Callie, I'm back from my precheck. I was going to ask, once there, if I could get Global Entry, but 5 seconds in the waiting room and we just went through with the TSA Precheck without asking. No changes  welcomed for other people, figured it'd be the same for us.

It took 5 minutes, super easy. Crazy fingerprints, they are now done digitally rather than ink on card.

I'd pay pretty much anything to not be groped or x-rayed at the airport!!!

CJ, thank you for thinking about your pal Kristie!!!!

I was just about to jump on here to say thank you to Callie and saw that you posted.

I'm so relieved.

Glad you got it done! Totally worth it. :appl:

Glad your TSA pre went so well. Marty had to drive to Denver to get his and it was really quick.

They finally reopened Global Entry applications from the UK last year. We arranged appt at Austin Bergstrom when we visited DS. I was only asked the basic questions, in and out in a few minutes, but the agent who interviewed DH gave him a real grilling. Wanted to know why he'd been to virtually every country on the list - including Canada, which had been our most recent visit!

It makes our lives so much easier visiting the US, Austin is a breeze anyway, but previously we've waited over 2 hrs to get through immigration in Houston and Miami.
