Just got videos of my august vintage moval moissanite from distinctive gem.
any recommendations on what kind of setting to put this baby in?
i know i want it to be in a rose gold setting.
i was originally thinking of putting it in an under halo/hidden halo setting but after seeing the stone i feel like it may be too long and might need some side stones. any thoughts?
thanks!

Wow gorgeous! And gigantic! What about your original setting thought, except turn the stone east/west?

eek, that's so pretty

It might be too wide if it's turned EW. I'm under a size 5 and the stone is 18mm x 9mm

maybe half-moons?

Ohhh! Gorgeous! Thought of this Klass setting right away!
I’ll try to find a better picture of it if you are interested. I actually have dealt with the owner. Lovely lady!

Edited again to say you may have to somehow clip the N/S tips of this setting to make it fit on your finger!

That's stunning! Does David come up with these designs or does the client? I'm never this creative.

I love haloes too but my engagement ring is a halo already I don't want them to look the same

Sheesh! That is gorgeous!

ivyandrosevintage has some really pretty ideas with marquis rings on their Instagram, some without any sort of halo, just some small diamond side stones on the shank, very simple, to get a feeling for the size of the side stones you'd want.

Yeah, I gotta agree with bludiva. That graduated halo is divine!

David was kind enough to mockup both a graduated halo and an underhalo and i'm pretty sure i can veto the under halo look.

I'm thinking of making the following changes. let me know your thoughts!

Change 1:
Add tapered shoulders to the ring.

Change 2: Since I'm very clumsy with my jewelry and have lost several melees from my engagement ring (profile pic) over the years. Change halo to contoured milgrain bezel (see emerald pic).

Change 3: Change center stone bezel to milgrain + smooth bezel (see rosegold pic).

Change 4: Reduce the size of the stones in the halo, given the size of the center, having only 18 stones in the halo looks disproportionate to me...
What would an ideal number of stones in the halo? or what size should the stones range from?

Change 5: Given that this is a push ring, i was thinking of making it a little more personal than just having a plain gallery. Thoughts of adding both of my kids' names to the bottom?

this idea is so lovely, if he can do that it would be amazing

all your changes make sense to me for the vintage but easy-to-wear look you are going for. i'm not sure about the melee size but agree about reducing it...if i'm reading the CAD right the biggest are 4.6mm which will make this a huge cocktail ring, i'd slim down the halo but keep it graduated if it were my ring.

i'm sure some folks who are better with CADS will be along shortly =D

That halo OMG

I have no real input in the setting side of things (although I do love your last CAD) but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing those videos! I was eyeing one for my engagement ring but I was nervous because I haven't seen videos before, but it looks absolutely stunning and so beautifully cut! It positively exploded in the sun. What size is it and did you go with the antique cut or the brilliant cut?

It's the August vintage cut so antique. It's 18mm x 9mm.
I think (at least in my opinion) all of the stones created/cut by Distinctive Gem are designed for light performance.
Good luck with your engagement ring!

That's ginormous-the finger coverage is going to be amazing! I was so excited to see he had marquis/movals because I think they're just gorgeous stones and I love how much finger coverage you can get without it being overwhelming, if that makes sense. I look forward to seeing your finished ring.

I think this is his first August vintage local moissanite. Its custom cut. If u are looking for something not on the site you can just message him and I'm sure he'll be happy to create it for you.

WOWZA!! That's GORGEOUS!!

Wow that’s incredible!!!

Some long overdue photos!
I cannot be happier with how the ring turned out! The rose gold color is gorgeous, David executed my vision/design perfectly.
I especially love how the gallery turned out.
Thanks for following along with me on my journey!
