Hey all,

I recently received a fantastic AVC from good old gold but I am having a dilemma picking out a setting color. I want do a James Meyer style ring (with the bezel and milgrain), but I cant decide on colors. My stone is a 2.11ct. O color AVC. I love the color when it is subtle/warm, but I am also not trying to play it up (since its not a fancy colored stone). I know that I want the ring shank in either rose or yellow gold, but I cant decide if I want the bezel (or even just the top of the bezel/milgrain) a different color. Will a RG/YG bezel and/or milgrain play up the color of the stone or contrast it and make it look relatively more colorless? I have included some pics of my stone as well as some examples of the settings I like and the contrasting shank/milgrain coloring. Please let me know what you think! :wavey:

P.S. Thanks to all the PSers with the amazing pics for inspiration!

Lucky you!! I'd love to have a lower color AVC! If I were you, I'd do the bezel and cuffs in platinum and the shank part in rose gold unless you just like yellow gold. I think that would be gorgeous!!!

One more thing, I'd be afraid to let anyone other than Ann McKay or Caleb Meyer try to reproduce that ring, if they will do it. Both do similar work to JM and have the ability to do a nice ring.

I have an M OMC in rose gold and the rose gold really seems to make the diamond look very white.

Thank everyone from the advice!

Diamondseeker2006: I am actually thinking about the shank and bezel in rose gold with the cuffs and the top milgrain pattern in platinum--you read my mind! I do wish I could have Ann McKay or Caleb Meyer do the work. Unfortunately I am in the midwest and I cant make the trip out to the east coast to deal with them in person. I did find a local jeweler who specializes in custom jewelry. He has assured me that they have the latest CAD technology, etc. I'm still a bit hesitant, but I dont have to pay for it unless I like the finished product, which adds some security. He is sending me some sort of 3D graphic renditions ater this week (before they start any wax models. I'll be sure to post them!

LibbyLA: Thanks for the input! I am you and diamondseeker definitely have me looking a lot harder at rose gold, which I am very excited about!

Shimmer: I do like the ritani setting--absolutely beautiful!
