August Vintage Cushion at James Allen?

How do you find this one via search? I tried using diamondseeker's method and it didn't pop up, I'm not sure if the color is excluding it from the category search or what, but curious how you found it?
Chance. It doesn’t find stones categorized as colored stone in the search outlined above.

Yes, I cannot agree more DS! These are specialty cut stones and they most certainly deserve their own category which will not only make it easier to search for, but it would make sense from a cut stand point too. I think people would be pleased to see a dedicated 'vintage cut' section and it would drive more visibility to these special stones!

Yes- they really need to be able to filter these! I think a "vintage" tag would be a great way to do it. It would definitely increase the brand visibility...I am sure there would be a ton of "ooooo what's that?!" traffic.

The color issue is also there, since there are often many AV stones on the lower end of the color spectrum! So would JA expand all of their diamond searches to include the whole color spectrum or will it be limited to the vintage stones? Interesting possibilities!

Am I reading correctly that GOG won't carry AV stones any more full stop? Are they just going to phase out their existing stock until they sell out? Hmmm:think:

Totally agree with you. Buyers will become aware that JA is carrying vintage style stones and that will drive traffic and profit.

If they have a ‘vintage’ category for ring settings then it makes sense to have one for stones.

Good afternoon my PS family,

Looking to bring some light and clarification.

It's real. :) I'm pretty fired up about it too. Good things ahead.

Yup it's true!! Jonathan is supplying James Allen with AV stones and I believe will supply his new ideal cut fancies to JA as well. So if you're looking for new AV stones, JA is the place =)2.

Personally I'd like to see the August Vintage line have their own category, similar to JA's True Hearts so it's easier to search. That and they deserve their own category!!

As would I and many others. The AVC's will be the "trial run" on JA for a vintage category. We pray all goes well and with that we may get exactly what you're asking for. Until then, if consumers are having a tough time locating exactly what's available they can see the entire new inventory on my site.

Whaaattt? Is this legit? Confirmed where?

The horses mouth. :mrgreen2::dance: Neigh!!!

Now I can upgrade my wives' to AVC or potentially AV Asscher, AVR, or Signature Oval if the partnership expands.:whistle:
Thanks @Rhino

I'll be addressing this in more detail as we move on but I'm talking with my family about the possibilities of doing this.

Does anyone know if there will be AVR coming to JA as well?

Within the last 48 hours I finished inspecting Sarin files of about 70 new AVR's which are being completed and on the way. Due to the filters at JA they may not make it on their site as there is no category for European Cuts but you can bet your bippy the entire inventory will be on the August Vintage site and perhaps either offered for sale on another site or mine or perhaps even both until things get ironed out. :)

Does this mean the new ovals will eventually be available on JA too?

That's the plan. I will make announcements when the first batches of ovals come in. Currently my latest prototype is at AGS under R&D. Ideal optics are established but as most of you know, simply "Ideal" isn't enough. :) I want the best that can be squeezed from the designs. Bottom line ... I want consumers to be happy with their buying experience so I'm open to distributing via resources that consumers prefer.

Will these stones be listed on the GOG site as well? So, they’d be virtual inventory for both vendors?

James Allen will have an exclusive online inventory of AVC diamonds, but I will continue to sell the brand through traditional B&M retail partners as well.

Warm regards,
Rhino

@Rhino, does this mean GOG will likely be buying AVs again?

Better marketing of this unique line is needed for the trial run to be reflective of any realistic long term plans! The average consumer is may not appreciate the difference between the cushions on videos alone.

Omg- if the new ovals come to JA I will have to find a way to upgrade asap.

Exactly.

YES! :appl::appl::appl:

Will be watching the AV website.

I paid at least 50K too much for my house. I feel your pain :) and my AVC that I bought for 7.3K is probably going to sell for 5K now :) but my investments have gone up the ying and yang of life I suppose. Cut is king. Someone (probably like DS or someone else really knowledgeable) said diamonds may soon not be sold by color and clarity BUT by CUT. I think that is what will happen myself. So sorry for your experience, and I feel for you.

It certainly doesn't ruin my diamond, but I can't help but wish I'd waited a year. I wouldn't be thinking this if I had bought say 5 years ago, but having bought recently this feels like I bought on the high end of the market... Also remember this price increase isn't a function of diamond prices coming down, but rather of a particular line of diamonds becoming less exclusive. This would be more like if they started selling the Tiffany Novo on JA - I'm sure those customers would also be none too pleased (an extreme example I know).

On another note, I also wish JA had more specific categories. These aren't the first antique cushions to end up on their site and it's always been near impossible to find the ones they do have among the thousands of cushions listed. I also don't think hearts and arrows cushions belong in the general cushion category either. Add to that some of the branded fancy cuts you occasionally see that fall into odd buckets (I recall an asshoka cut among the asschers some time ago) and it seems that anyone who is in the market for one of these shapes has no way of actually finding them on James Allen even though they do exist.

I understand your feelings.
While is a good business decision, it’s difficult for those who have already purchased.

Well, we always warn people not to look at their diamond purchases as investments, but to wear and love. Many things cost less today than they did yesterday. It's just part of life.

Hi Kris. I think so but the buying decisions at GOG don't rest solely on one person. There are plans to transition clients who want to trade up that I believe will work for everyone. I know I, as well as GOG will make personal sacrifices to help them as much as possible and I'll always do everything within my power to make things work.

Kindest regards,
Jonathan

There are lots more of the AVCs on James Allen today. Mainly between .7 and 2.1 cts.
