I have a friend inquiring about this. I know that diamonds and sapphires are hard enough, and I''m assuming tsavorite garnets are? What other stones are hard enough to make the chip-risk low enough for everyday wear?
i love my spessartite garnet e-ring and wouldn''t trade it for anything. i wear my wedding band 24/7 and the spess e-ring only when i leave the house....even if its to go to the lumberyard or garden center.
For everyday wear, only diamonds and corundum (sapphire and ruby) are safe. Garnets and spinels are fine as engagement stones but not for everyday wear.
