Just happened to stumble across this randomly while googling and looking at the pretty pictures but Abbey Bridal in Sydney currently has listed on their website Maggie S dresses for up to 75% off might be worth a call and a squiz if your looking.

Ta sweetie. My best friend wore a Maggie for her wedding and it was divine. The beading was just stunning.

You wasted no time in checking out gowns missy

Have you guys set a tentative date? And ideas of what you will be doing?

And! Where on earth is your SMTR thread?!?!?!?!

No worries :), I also saw Abbey Brides has a sale with Maggie S and other labels for $999.

LOL we haven''t started planning but that doesn''t stop me from looking at all the pretty pictures

. I bought my first bridal magazine (go cosmo bride) and didn''t realise for like 3 days just how much that bugger cost, but the pictures are pretty which is why I bought it. So far we are thinking a winter 2010 wedding, (QLD weather) and I don''t look good in sweat (and can you imagine poor poor Mr future D in a tux) but it is a good thing most places are off peak then.

It is funny he proposed and everything I wanted in a wedding has kind of gone out the window, I always wanted a traditional church wedding (now not so sure), wanted to have the reception at a golf club but since I told a couple of my friends that and they decided to go with the idea it lost its shine, we also contemplated a destination wedding in Serbia but after meeting my relies for the first time in nearly 20yrs I am not sure I could trust them with my vision (for lack of a better word) and finally the venue I wanted is closing at the end of the year. There is hope though even though we are not planning (just looking at the pictures
17.gif
) I thought this place looked beautiful (not as beautiful as your venue though that is TDF Maleny Manor but it looks very expensive well I think it is but then I have not really priced up anywhere.

One thing we have decided is first and foremost this wedding is to be a reflection of us not a we are better then you event which is what I have seen some people do and the event really loses its soul. But I am thinking something a little whimsical and romantic but simple and elegant at the same time, nothing OTT.

As for the SMTR thread FI has promised that he will help me take photo''s today so hopefully it is coming shortly

Deelight! That venue is just stunning. The pics of the ceremony on the deck (?!) looks gorgeous and that view is just perfect!!! I love it. You should email them for a wedding kit, just to find out about costs, you may be suprised. We are keeping our wedding small, so we can afford to splurge a little on the food and drinks etc.

I totally agree with your vision of what you want your wedding to be. We are really trying to focus on keeping the day intimate and romantic and put a lot of time and effort into our vows. I don't want to feel like, let's get this ceremony over and get to the party, for us it's not about that. We have said all along we want our day to be romantic and private, yet classy and elegant at the same time, without forgetting why we are there.

ETA just looked at that venue site again, you can download a full wedding kit with prices and minimum numbers etc. Not sure what your guest list would be like or budget, but it doesn't look that expensive in the whole scheme of things, and for a place that looks that good, it's seems average in price. Just doing my own research and when my BF got married, you can expect to pay 1000-2000 for the venue hire for your ceremony, and around $100-150 per head depending on how many guests and which night. You probably know all this though, and I am just babbling.....

I couldn''t agree with you anymore on the bolded statement, so many weddings I have been to lately seem to rush through and forget why we are really here for. I am all for a party but I am only getting married once and I want it to last and be meaningful.

They have a photo with a ceremony under a giant tree and I think it just looks amazing really simple and organic. I haven''t seen the place in person yet but from the pics it looks nice, and Maleny is a beautiful place, it is where all the hippies lived until it got expensive but the mountains and forests are beautiful however if we do have the reception there out goes the church wedding as the church is about 1.5-2hrs away which I am umming and ahhhing on anyway for different reasons. My only reservations are the packages, I am not the biggest fan of alternating menu''s and they seem the norm at most weddings I would prefer pre-planned menus where guest pick what they want send it back to me and voila everyone gets something they like :). They also include beer, wine and softdrink in the package prices but both of us hate crap wine and beer and would rather pick it ourselves better yet provide it ourselves and I wonder how much it would cost to add spirits on there as well? I need to find out how much room there is for negotiation.

Looking at those photo''s again wow that deck is really pretty, sunset ceremony over water on the deck....

YAY so I am not being a Bridezilla...yet LOL, I swear I ask FI that like every 10-20 minutes when I discuss stuff like I don''t want this (he agrees with it all though so it is good) or that he assures me I am not being but I don''t want to get too caught up in it either. I think FI would really love to get married in Serbia still but he gets my reasoning one of my aunts while lovely is seriously controlling and I could just see her taking over and well the other options of rellies I could see no one listening to me either and I would get there and be like WTF????

I am thinking around 80-100 guests I have a feeling it could be more but I would rather not and would be happy with around 60, I am dreading planning a guest list we talked about that yesterday and both agreed we would be surprised how many people we are friends with.

I also liked this site not as much though I don''t think but it is another contender The Plantation

Honey, I so get you on the ceremony thing as well,

Maleny Manor looks amazing! Hi i'm a Sydney bride-to-be
35.gif

Abbey Bridal has some great stuff, there are quite a few places at the moment having their annual sales. (good for me!
2.gif
) but I am so picky I can't find one that I like
39.gif

Anywho, slight thread jack, but I wish there were more 'country' locations in Sydney for our wedding. I can't seem to find something nice yet relaxed (garden atmosphere) that doesn't require me to sell my kidneys!!!

Any suggestion from fellow Sydney-siders would be greatly appreciated

ETA: wow we have similar tastes. Plantation looks amazing!!

I am the same in terms of 80-100 guests and a very intimate gathering... hope you enjoy your planning!

Hi Deelight

I didn''t realise you were Australian!

At one stage I really wanted to get married in Maleny, or somewhere close by in the Noosa hinterland. I have a cousin up near there and have visited quite a few times and it is so beautiful in that area. I think I even looked at Maleny manor in one of my wedding **** sessions.

However, we decided it would be better to save the cost of flying up there and accommodation for everyone and get married in the Adelaide Hills instead. Still waiting on getting engaged though, so probably shouldn''t get to ahead of myself!

LOL I was starting to think Honey and I were the only Aussie brides (brides to be) posting YAY there are more :D

Cynd33 I saw your post and had to run upstairs and grab my Cosmo bride LOL because I saw an ad for this place in Mosman NSW (no idea how far that is away from you) but it looks great sort of rustic but a little country with a whole lot of charm (no idea on the cost though) Boronia House.

I saw some other ones in there as well that brides in NSW had spreads for their weddings this one sounds really nice Yabba Yabba Mansion it is a hundred year old mansion with really old pretty looking gardens :)

Lindesay house at darling point no web address but there is info here however it could be a little excey Lindesay house National trust

Lauriston house Dundas valley Lauriston house No idea of cost but again looks nice :).

I believe Claireabelle is from Sydney but I haven't seen her around here lately she might pop in with some ideas :).

bobbin yup Aussie born and lived here all my life :), Maleny is beautiful I have been there once and it was so pretty. Nothing wrong with a little forward thinking still early days though but it fun to look at the pictures :).

I am also in Sydney!!

My FI and I are planning on a winter 2011 wedding! We are going to look at the Gunners Barracks in December.. it looks perfect *fingers crossed*

How far are you from the blue mountains? Loxely could be perfect for that country feel?

Danielle your venue looks OMG amazing, I am so feeling jealous I don''t live in Sydney :)

Thank-you!

I''m hoping it is as breathtaking in person as it is online!

Sydney venues are wonderful.. although the cost a pretty penny- The Gunners Barracks are $150 a head!

Deelight and Danielle,

Thank you so much! I''m going to look through all those places you have suggested and show my FI to see what he thinks. Hopefully not too expensive
20.gif

I''ve seen the gunners barracks in cosmo too... absolutely stunning location! that great that you have plenty of time to save for winter 2011. I am tossing up between autumn or spring 2010 but can''t decide... once i find a venue i think that will help - i just love Autumn colours and i think it would be beautiful for a garden wedding.

Will report back on how i go with the suggested venues
