It's been a long, arduous search for the diamond of my dreams (that's in the budget of course!!). Thanks to the support of some wonderful PSers (you know who you are! :wink2: )... I was able to hold out for my 7mm DREAM STONE! There were a few along the way I heavily considered buying but I'm glad I waited for this one. Can't wait to have it in my hands! I'll of course post my own pictures once I receive it!!

This is an EGL graded 1.35 L VS1. :lickout: It looks very white to me!!!

Seriously! And it's an EGL L! Your hand pics look so much like mine! I have a GIA L and your EGL L looks even whiter!

As a fellow owner of an old L stone as well, congratulations! Beautiful! So glad you held out for your dream stone. :appl: It blows my mind how the old cuts show less color.

Beautiful OEC, Lin-ny! Love that crown - and the L colour... well, I'd think it was higher than an L for sure!! Very nice and congrats on finding the perfect one for you!! Woo hoo!!

so... :Up_to_something: ... what are your setting plans? :naughty:

I know you won't disappoint by leaving us without more pics soon. Looks like a stunner!

YayTacori - I almost died when it rolled over in her hand a bit and I saw that crown. Holy jeebus! And then I died again when I saw how white it really was. All these compliments mean a lot coming from you... you have a breathtaking stone yourself. :))

Sarahbear621 - "L" does stand for lovely, dontcha know! :wink2: Speaking of that, she's gonna need a formal name! I'm loving the whiteness but I'm wondering how it'll look if I set it in rose gold... Maybe a bit creamier? We'll see!!!

backwardsandinheels - Wowzers batman! I remember seeing your OEC a few months back and I definitely had a few moments drooling! It's so beautiful!! Now we can be "L" twins! :appl: And yeah, I'm kinda in disbelief how this stone hides colour! I will put it to the ultimate test and take pics in every light imaginable once it arrives!

Enerchi - Thank you so much! Well... I've been pining over this setting for months now... so my boyfriend and I are gonna work with Chris @ ERD to do a take on this and it'll likely be rose gold too although I'm open to white, depending on what the stone will look best in. Now that I see how white it is, I'm thinking I'll go for the rose. :lickout:

I'm also open to a solitaire but I haven't seen many that I really loved the profile view of. That I would have to research quite a bit more. Any solitaire suggestions? I love those pointy claw prongs... unfortunately I'm not sure how practical this setting would be since I'm a nurse!

Thank you!! You'll probably ask me to stop posting so many pics and video when the time comes.

Oh my god. I just died! Gorgeous gorgeous setting! Looooove the gallery! It's gonna be aaaahhhmazing! Can't wait for u to get it!
ETA- I'm loving the rose gold idea! I know your hesitant about the claw prongs, but I feel that done right, it'll be fine. But you know, you gotta be comfortable wearing it while working and not have to worry about it while having to concentrate at work.

Very exciting!!! It looks beautiful!!!

Congratulations, it is beautiful!!!

Well, I'd take credit for the incredible design, but I can't. Props to this PS user and Chris @ ERD for sure. Beautiful work. Here's the SMTB thread for it:

I don't think I'd ever be completely satisfied with my ring if I didn't do that milgrain bezel with the petal gallery. I've been so stuck on it for months now that it must be done!! How do you think it'll translate to a much smaller stone? Well, I hope!

Plus I love how secure the bezel setting is inherently and I'm really loving how unique it is. I love how it's gonna be so completely different than every other ring I've ever seen!! :appl:

Thank you!!! I've been oogling your ring from afar - what an amazing work of art by JBEG! And the bezel... to die for!

lin_ny your diamond is GORGEOUS!!! I will also have a EGL L and I can't believe how white and flashy your stone is. I hope mine will be just as beautiful as yours! And I think the setting you're getting is going to be perfect for your diamond. Do you mind me asking where you got it from?

Aww, thank you! I'm beaming from all the compliments. Everyone around here has seen so many diamonds it's so nice to hear that mine has a little somethin' special!

Do you have any pictures of your diamond? I'd love to see it!! And once the payment is cleared I will gladly share the vendor. Can't have any sneaky lurkers swoopin' in and stealing my stone!

YAY LINNY!! :appl: :appl: :appl:
YOU GOT YOUR 7MM!!! hehe, I'm glad PS was able to tone down your modesty :naughty: :wink2:

Who did you buy through? JbEG? ERD?

:appl: :appl: :appl: I'm so happy for you!

It looks very promising, I am eager to hear your thoughts when you have it! That's a great size.

It looks like a classic OEC and some of that style do not flourish when bezeled. Some stones, like MayKs, really light up when they are set in an enclosed mount -- it amps up the contrast. But other old cuts do not benefit from being so closed in, they can go a little darker under the table. At least that has been my experience. So when you get it, experiment a little! If you have one of the claw-type diamond holders, you can grasp the stone and wrap a paper around the holder and the stone, like rolling a cigarette, and it can mimic the appearance of a bezel :)) Then you can see what you think! Or maybe you won't care ;)) But its worth experimenting to be sure!

When do you get it?

madelise - Tone down my modesty, I like that. haha. Not publicizing the vendor yet... since I'm waiting for payment to clear. Soon... soon you will know all the details. Well, that's the only detail I left out really.

Mayk - I've been oogling your ring too! Just beautiful. And your stone. Amazing. Question about the bezel... and I apologize for putting this here - but we can't private message here! Argh!! ;)) I've studied these settings with a magnifying glass basically (I'm crazy, haha) and I noticed your bezel appears to be thicker than the bezel on the rose gold cushion. Is this true? I'd like mine as thin as possible (while still staying safe and secure). I'm trying to isolate everything down to the detail so I don't waste too much of Chris' time.

Dreamer_D - Chrono mentioned I should do the tin foil thing... which I'll definitely do. I hope it continues to perform despite that! If the payment goes through by a decent hour today it'll go out today... so next week sometime I'll have it! :)

Lin!!! Your diamond is amazing!!! It totally does NOT look like an L!!! So excited to see end results! Congrats on your gorgeous stone!

Mayk - I love love love your setting! And your stone looks beyond perfect in it!

I think it might just be the angle of the picture of the shape of the stone... I can barely see the bezel in real life.. the pictures of course are blown up..so it's very noticable..

A point Dreamer made.. is very accurate (no surprise she's such a smartie when it comes to these stones...). I told Chris I was very concerned about the bezel setting making the stone dark. If you will notice my gallery has on less petal design to allow for more light than the cushion setting had in the basket. I also asked if he thought it would go dark in the setting we should look for other options. When he received the stone he felt with the adjustments in the basket we would be o.k. and he was right.. it's lovely and bright.

Hope that helps...

Yes... blown up pics make every detail stand out! Thanks for the thoughts on that. I'll definitely be asking his opinion once he receives the stone. Hopefully the bezel works out because I just HAVE to have those petals.

Congratulations - a truly beautiful stone. I too love the high crown and small table. I also applaud the gorgeous setting you've picked out for it; all in all, it will be your perfect, personal piece of art!

It's AMAZING!!!! Wow those photos take my breath away  I can't wait to see how you set it!

OMG so gorgeous!!!! I need an OEC so badly!

Beautiful! And I love your setting inspiration - one of my PS favorites!!

Lin_ny---is it on its way? Are you soon to be the newest OEC member by mid week??? Excited to hear when you'll have it in your hand and can take a lot more photos!
