Hi, I have an asscher/ square cut emerald solitare set in a lucida type setting. I picked this setting because it was basic, cheap in 14K, and because I couldn''t decide what setting to commit to ''permanently.'' My fiance, as a result, spent time on money on the diamond, which we both feel was a good idea.

However I don''t like this setting because, personally, I like ring sets... and even a asscher eternity band doesn''t look ''right'' with it to me as the Lucida is almost a catherdral setting, and nothing sits flush with it across the top... there is always a set down and that bugs me... plus it''s a little plain for my taste. So, I''ve been browsing settings for this ring... and I just haven''t found anything yet... I''ve browsed dimend scaasi a few times, and the icestore and a few other online retailers... and nothing seems just right to me. AND as my wedding day approaches, I really want to get this re-set so that my wedding band is a permanent one. I''ve looked just about everywhere, from Tiffany to Van Cleef and on.

So, I guess my question is... are there any resources/ stores/ sites that I should look at? My center stone is an F in color, so I really would like something good quality. Even a designer style that isn''t perfect, but is close enough that I can adapt it would be great. Thiese two are my favorites so far, but the first doesn''t work with a flush band, and the second is lovely but I don''t like the prongs/ head-- the way they stick up. Plus, neither of them are really ''adaptable'' I don''t think... the first in for a larger diamond than mine (I have a 1.07) and the second... it''s a designer ring, and already costs the earth (6-7 K for the set), getting it customized would be outrageouslyunaffordable.

Anyone have any suggestions on where I should look for ideas next?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Try Precissionset, MWMJewelry and Signedpieces

Facets makes a shared prong asscher band about 3mm wide that sounds like a good idea, and Signedpieces (same company, I guess) makes this:

btw. ... how about a set with baguettes in both the wedding band and the ring's shank ?

like these... with your asscher

Just a thought

hi

isn''t that funny, you have the same "trouble" I have with my asscher. A GORGEOUS stone in a Lucida type setting that I would like to replace.

Check under my username "asscher trouble". A few people have replied to me

Good luck and let me know what you ended up doing

Hi there,
The first of your picks was one of my favorite asscher settings, because I love a halo but don''t love the busy-ness of tiny round pave around the placid asscher center ... BUT, when I saw a similar ring in person, it was kind of "Viva Las Vegas" as my friend said. My idea of what I wanted changed drastically when I tried rings on my hand ... I don''t know where you live but the diamond district in NYC was a great place to try on a ton of things all at once ... I did all 47th street & Fortunoff (to see Royal Asschers in person). I ended up most loving a much more classic setting than I''d preferred "online" and in pictures. Though ... since my return I did get a crush on a new "online" setting ... it''s from Daniel K and it''s on Judith Jarnell Jewelers I think. There''s also a similar one on Pearlman under Gumuchian Fils. The one I selected for myself isn''t online anywhere that I''ve found so far ... but I''ll post it if I can get or find a picture. GOOD LUCK!!

I love the icestore setting. Niceice had a couple of really cool asscher settings on their site. I''ll try to post the pic. I hope it is big enough to see! I think that if you had something like this [with the baguette halo] with a staight band with baguettes channel set [as in Ana''s pics] it would look wonderful with one of the channel set baguette bands Ana posted. Sorry about the inarticulateness. I hope you understood me!

My pic didn''t post :-(. I''ll try to fix it.

This one is similar to my fave ... and you could wear it with a band.

I also considered having this Leon Mage design done with an Asscher center stone, diamond baguette halo on face, sapphire baquette surrounding sides.

I also like this ring, if it was set with an Asscher center stone ...because it reminds me of my all-time fave Asscher setting ... coming up next!!!

All time fave!!! Only, this is a 2.36 stone ... don''t think it''s going to hold up proportion-wise with a 1-1.5, which is the size our budget has chosen for us ..

Doesn''t stop me from continuing to love it up.

I''ll try to post the Daniel K larger ... it''s too tiny to see!! Oh well ... a link will have to do

You can also check out my thread in show me the ring, it''s called here''s my Storm worthy asscher. There are a ton of pics there. Good luck!!!! I just adore asschers!!!!

Let''s see if this posts bigger. One more try with the Daniel K split crown via the Judith Arnell site:

And here''s the Daniel K rosebud....also has some pave, but not a halo

Heck, I probably found that setting through you in the first old place. Color me pink! They get all scrambled up here on my desktop in a folder I''ve name "bling" & I have no idea how they got there! I toast to your continued & hopefully eternal Asscher Ho-ness!

Since you are in NJ I would say you ought to visit Roman Jewlers. I was in there again to day and they are just the nicest people. They have two stores one which is in the Bridgewater Mall and the other is a little farther south in Flemington. They have a ton of designer settings but also have their own line and do some really lovely custom work.

Decodelighted, that''s hilarious: my folder for all of these is called "bling" too!!!

Wow... one night, and already 19 messages. I'm in awe!

I REALLY do like the baguette halo. I adore the one DiamanteBlu posted... God, it's gorgeous. I'm not crazy about the channel set band on the side of it, honestly, but the face is... stunning. Exactly the look I want. Except I don't want to pave set my asscher-- The ice store Halo ring had it prong set, and I like that better... I just don't like the way emerald cuts look pave set, the light return gets diminished. If that could be made prong set and so that a thin platinum band could sit flush to it... under the face. I think I'd be thrilled. I actually saw something similar to it a long time ago... but with an emerald, and it was stunning. Never could find it again, though. The Leon Mage is stunning too. The diamonds on the side and everything. Wow.

decodelighted-- you're favorite is stunning... but mine is 1.07 and it doesn't look right proportionately, unfortunately. I saw a similar setting with a diamond my size... and it was underwelming.

kaleigh- your ring is beautiful. That delicate setting really sets off your amazing stone. Gave me some food for thought too. I do want something that will make my stone stand out... right now the Lucida setting isn't doing much for it. Thanks.

I love the split crown by daniel K... but I don't think it would work well with a flush band. That's been the problem with a lot of the rings I've loved. Hmm...

Okay... so Matatora, I'll look into Romans jewelers... I'm actually going to visit the SF, CA bay area next week. Any store recommendations there? Anyone?

Asscher Trouble I looked over there and thank you. There were a ouple of very nice ones suggested to you. IF I ever get this figured out... lol... I'll post about it. Promise.

Last question... for now. I loved the Facets site in terms of price... they were SO reasonable. And the Icestore is not, at all, reasonable. So how do I go about knowing what the right price if for what I'm asking? I Do have a great jeweler in DE (where we bought my stone, great great store called Minsters Jewelers) so I suppose I could call and ask them what they would charge... still, does Facets do custom work?
