I would say consider the band you're going to wear it with. I looked to having my asscher re-set with step cuts in the band and I found the I did like a more matchy 'look' after all, or a solitare with a diamond band (which is what I ultimately went with). If you're just going to wear the e-ring alone, go with #2...it's subtly sparkly band compliments the asscher the best, I think.

Good advice. I'll be wearing it with a round diamond and rectangular french cut (they alternate) diamond band. I'll try to post a picture soon. It's from 23rd street jewelers. I love it!

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I REALLY appreciate it.

I'm actually leaning towards setting #4. Classic, clean and will look nice with my wedding band. Jeweler should be getting some stones for me to look at very soon. Hoping he finds a 2 ct. beauty.

Miss, I used to go there all the time. They have gorgeous things. Did you find a pic of my ring? I am terrible at pictures, I had the admin help me post them originally.

I just found your ring!!! HOLY BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP! OMG. There are no words! 9.22 Emerald cut?!?!?!?! Wow. Just Wow. Gorgeous setting too. Did you buy it in Los Angeles? Whoa.

No, we had moved away by then.

I got engaged with a 1.5 carat round. It was fine and I was 24, and rounds were comfortable for my hubby to pick. I really just said no marquise shapes or princess cuts, which were two that I did not like on me. The setting was a very modern yellow gold setting with ring guards, the bands were almost tubular and had little diamonds sprinkled on them. It was not my taste but a family friend in the jewelry business designed it for him.

We moved East, and for my 10th anniversary and 35th birthday, I wanted to at first reset my ring from yellow gold to platinum. I then decided I really wanted a different shaped stone. As we were new in town, my hubby went to Tiffany''s. He got me a gorgeous three stone emerald cut ring, with a three carat center and one carat on each side. All E/VVS1. Frankly it was one of the prettiest rings I had ever seen. I kept my round and made a necklace out of it. When I was turning 40 (a little over two years ago) I decided I wanted to go even bigger. So we traded the emerald cut ring in at Tiffany''s and got this ring. I adore my ring, though Tiffany''s suggested baguettes and I wish I had gotten shields or traps, like the ring I saw at Harry Winston. I also must say I love my ring, I wear it almost all of the time with no issues and it is a G VVS2 stone and lovely, my other ring was gorgeous. I just could not keep both, hubby said I had to trade it in.

a tiffany no less?!?! wow.

I''m excited about my upgrade!!! can''t wait to post pics!!

Well, I felt after 15 years of marriage and three kids and my oldest''s bar mitzvah and turning 40 I deserved it! It is gorgeous and I am comfortable with it, he was concerned but it is not a problem for me. If it is I leave it in my safe, and wear a plain band or plain rolling ring.

I got a gorgeous band as a push gift for my third, who is now 6.

I always have something in mind for the next occasion, much to hubby''s annoyance. And I can be pretty relentless when I want something, he never has a real shot at saying no!

I love # 2.

well deserved for sure! We''ve been married only 8 months but my DH says I get something else at 10 years. Hopefully we''ll have a couple kids soon cuz there is a cute pink diamond band on Leon''s site that I want.

Thanks for sharing!!!

You have wonderful taste. I am sure whatever you get will be gorgeous.

the honest truth is I never really felt that WOW for my first ring. I was going to be student teaching in the areas around USC at the time so it was a nice size without being crazy, and yellow gold was big, but it was just too funky of a setting. I was much more a classic type of girl, but the family friend wanted to do something different. It never occured to me to change it, ever, til I moved east and saw very few rounds in yellow settings. I became very aware of it.

I am sure you will get a push gift, just plant the seed. Hubby thought I was making it up, but even if I were, hey, I had just given him a baby so go along with it!

I was looking at antique websites and found some asscher ideas. These are 1920''s-30''s ish, art deco, which is around the time the asscher was first cut.

Thanks DF! I have expensive taste!! ha! Well, your ring is certainly classic now! I keep looking at it. It''s gorgeous!

Yay, I''m sure I''ll get a push gift but right now all I want is a healthy pregnancy and baby. It''s been a rough 8 months but that''s a whole other Oprah.

Thanks for sharing your opinions with me! Have a nice weekend!

This is my favorite. These were all off a website called artdecodiamonds.com

Thanks for posting these swingirl! I love all the antique looks. I almost had my current asscher reset in a bezel but backed out at the last second. I LOVE the split shank on this one! And the prongs. It''s really beautiful. Good sleuthing! You found websites I hadn''t found yet!

I really like the #2 option, but not with the band you said you plan to wear....so then i like #4, b/c i like the look of a solid band on the e-ring with some bling on the WB. Having said that, i think that split shank listed above might be rivaling my earlier choice for a favorite - gorgeous!
