I was watching Gem Shopping Network (

) last night. They had an estate assher ring that was slightly over 5 ct. that they claimed had an appraisal over $100K that they were moving at something around $70K. I think it was E or F. Anyway, usually their lighting makes even a dog look pretty decent. What intrigued me about this asscher was that no matter which way they turned that ring, it always looked dark. So dark in fact that the X of the asscher pavilion stood out like a white X in a field of dark grey.

Was this a bum stone or what? Wish I had a pic to show. I can''t imagine anyone spending $70K+ for the diamond the way it looked on screen? I''m just being curious.

Without seeing the lighting cant say for sure but it certainly doesn''t sound like it is well cut.
A well cut asscher will either show nice patterns and or nice fire in almost any lighting.
