Asscher Evaluation- seeking help

Hi all! I'm desperate for help evaluating if the "short list" I've made is any good or if I need to go back to the drawing board. I've done a ton of reading browsing and what I've come to find is that it is truly difficult to observe good light performance online, even given ideal specs- but given my budget I am set out to give it my best

What I am looking for:
Lab grown asscher, 3-4 carats (give or take). D-H, VVS2 or higher, small table, symmetric steps, wider windmills and good scintillation and flash.

One thing that has me confused is some sources say "watch out for black/darkness in the image" others say you need the high contrast and that GREY is actually what can show light leakage under the table... Maybe someone can set me straight here.

Thank you for reading this far and here are the three currently on my short list. My untrained eye has me leaving toward the first two more but I'm here for your opinions and observations! Anything helps!

Option 1 video
Option 1 certificate

Option 2 video
Option 2 certificate

Option 3 video certificate linked on page

Here is a photo of what I plan to do with it (of the two rings shown on hand I am drawn to the larger one but would choose a smaller stone if it looked nicer)

Thank you so much for any guidance!!

1 maybe 2&3 no way,
more pics of 1?
black in moderation is ok in vids.
grey can be leakage
99.9999% of the info out there on asschers is garbage.

Really don't like 3. Not a fan of 2 either. 1 has potential.

Also this should be moved to the mmd subforum

Shoot! I'm sorry- the description of this one said it could be used for asking advice and 2nd opinions etc. I will look for that forum

Only for earth grown. The man made diamond section is where this should be. But in the meantime I'll start looking for you :)

Oh my gosh thank you! I'm moving it there now.

Amy thoughts on either of these? I think I'm going to shift down to 2.5-3.5 roughly instead of going up to 4 carats.

I like the 3.33 better, and I don't usually like the bigger one.
Going down in size will alow more options. We had a poster who wanted a huge 4+ ct Asscher, OMG she got shot down so many times.

I think I read through some of the posts you're talking about. Ive read most of recent asscher posts haha. I saw @Karl_K explaining that what would be minor imperfections in smaller stones get amplified when you get up that big and I had been already questioning if I really wanted to go that big anyhow so that convinced me to start looking smaller. Thanks for your response! @lovedogs has a post with some interesting asschers linked so I'm going to go back and revisit those also.

here is another link of that 3.33 that allows you to change the size. I'm noticing that at a certaine angle a lot of the stone seems to "turn off" at once. Is this pretty typical? Or something I should try to avoid...? Thanks!

Avoid. The best ones look lively at all angles in the 360 videos.

In terms of cut I think this is worth a look

I love the movement! Does it appear brownish to you? Thoughts on this one compared to the one you linked?

"In terms of cut I think this is worth a look"

I see now that you were just giving an example of how one should look. Thank you!

Possibly a slight brownish tint, but could also simply be the video setup. Can’t be sure without seeing it next to one with less tint. I think the 2.52 E may have too much obstruction face up for my preference, but it may be ok for you if you like one with more contrast. It looks like it has more graining than the 3.06 F though.

If you are open to going smaller, I have this one bookmarked from earlier in the year when I was shopping for a ~2 ct pair.

Follow lovedogs and 0-0-0. I just bought a stinker of an emerald cut, needs to go back.
Obviously I have no eye.

Ugh that's the worst! I'm afraid I have great potential of being in the same boat as you..:P2

This is looks like it would be beautiful stone and I am not opposed to this size. Thank you! Def a contender. Based on images that you and @lovedogs have recommend to me or in other posts I have created a new list of possibilities -- we'll see if I did any better this time around :twisted2: I'm not super confident, even after looking at thousands by this point, that my "eye" has honed in lol

2.58 H Not sure about the color but appears to have good movement

mystery stone This one really has my eye...I love the wide windmills, color and clarity but have not been able to track down a video yet. Requested from a second store so we will see. The video attached is the wrong stone

2.58 G Depth and table % are almost the same...is that ok?

Mystery #2 Another I cant find a video of (IGI # LG646444281) ugh! The wide corners and 1.0 ratio really draw me to it. dying to see it in action if anyone can find it. I checked stonealgo and loupe360

2.54 E Love the shape, not sure about the bullseye effect when facing forward? Just enough contrast, or too much?
2.54 E Video

2.55 E

2.6 E
2.6 E Video wish clarity was higher..

Love to hear all thoughts/observations and weather or not I'm getting any closer to picking less of a dud :P2 Am I on the right track?...

Of the ones with video I like the cut of the 2.54 E the most. I think the others look too quiet/leaky under the table.

Thank you!!! Editing to add: if I can get a video for the two mystery stones I will post them to compare to the 2.54e and the one you sent me.

I think this one has potential

Thank you for the recommendation @0-0-0 I'm leaning more towards 2-3 carats now I think. I was able to see 2 and 3 carat at a store yesterday and think this size will be better. 3.5 and 4 might be a bit much given how much bulk the setting will add :)

I was able to acquire a video for one of the "Mystery" diamonds...Here it is. This is the the IGI report . I noticed it's HPHT which I haven't come across much for some reason?

Between the stone linked above, the 2.54 E, the 1.97 you shared with me, and the very first one I linked in this thread, I'm anxious to hear if you, @Karl_K and @lovedogs have a top two. Might order top two to compare in person.

still working on getting video of the 2nd mystery diamond... stay tuned.

you've all been so helpful :kiss2:

The 2.12 "mystery" one looks nice to me. Can't judge the 2.54 without a video. The 1.97 was linked twice. Is that supposed to be the same?

I think the 2.4 and 2.12 are my favorites. The 2.4 might be overly dark at some angles though
Just checked these 2 and both have potential.

I think 2.12 and 3.1 look leaky on tilt. I would want to compare 2.54 and 1.97 in person.
