I am new to the site, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend a jeweler in New Orleans for a 2.5-3ct Asscher cut. The ring will be for my sister-in-law, but I have offered to help. I have a degree in geology, and LOVE all things jewelry related. One day I may go get my certification.
Is she looking for an actual "Asscher" cut or a square emerald cut? Below is the website for the actual patented Asscher cut diamond and I''ve also included a few more websites full of knowledge and history regarding the Asscher cut. The last link is to a third generation Asscher named Daniel K who also cuts this magnificent step cut!
I''m from the New Orleans area (Slidell) & am also in the market for an asscher--but will be in the 2-2.5 ct range due to budget. I went to Ramsey''s in Metairie thinkin that they would have lots of 2+ ct stones to look at, but they hardly had a 2ct fancy shape in the house & the only asscher was less than 1ct. I had no luck at Boudreaux''s, either--but both places said they could get stones for me to look at.
There are lots of jewelers in NO--I was considering trying one on Royal Street because they are desperate for business & I thought I may be able to haggle a deal. I have found a jeweler in Slidell who has a 7.3 x7.3 mm 2ct that is sparkly and a great price that I have verbally agreed to purchase--but after reading some of these boards I think I am already suffering from shrinkage!!!
If I lived in the city I''d call around to see if any are in-house before visiting......seem to be very few BETWEEN 2.5-3.....
