After doing some searching on price scope, i came across an asscher-cut diamond at good old gold that is GIA certified and seemed like a decent deal. I was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback on if this would be a stone worth considering to buy for an engagement ring. The specs are as follows:

Shape: Asscher
Carat Weight: 1.09ct
Color: I
Clarity: VVS2
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None
Culet: Medium
Lab Report: GIA
Lab Report #: 1106285906
In House: No
Width: 5.89mm
Length: 5.97mm
Depth: 3.97mm
Table Percentage: 62.62%
Depth Percentage: 67.30%
Crown ∠: 34.50°
Crown Depth: 13.40%
Pavilion ∠: 40.75°
Pavilion Depth: 50.60%

The price for the stone is $4,734. The link to the stone is http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/5185/

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Not expert here, but I think there is too much blue/black in the ASET/IS under the table. A general way to judge if a good cut at GOG is to see GOG''s guarantee, 30 days is general item, lifetime guarantee is something they like too.

Has good looking P1 region and has fewer larger steps, as opposed to the classical or royal asscher which have more smaller steps, for its style it is a nice asscher and Jon may back this with a lifetime policy even if its not listed on his website. If you like the appearance of this stone compared to others in a video I'd ask him about getting the upgrade policy on this one as well.

I also contacted the customer service at James Allen after reading through price scope some more and requested pictures, GIA reports, and ideal scopes on the following two items:

Price: $4300
Shape: Asscher
Carat weight: 1.22
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: VVS2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 68.4%
Table: 62.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Girdle: Medium to thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Medium blue
Measurements: 5.93*5.96*3.89
Ratio: 1.01

and

Price: $3900
Shape: Asscher
Carat weight: 1.05
Cut: Ideal
Color: H
Clarity: IF
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 69.3%
Table: 64.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.62*5.60*3.88
Ratio: 1.00

Once i receive that information, i plan on posting it. Any thoughts on the information at hand? I am also torn between two settings--i want the setting that will best accent the center stone, and right now like them both equally. The settings i like are:

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_130-874_design.asp?module=setting

and

http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-869.asp

Any ideas? I am very new at this, so i am trying to make as informed a decision as possible while still staying at around the $5000 dollar budget for the setting and the center stone.

Thanks for the link Stone!

I have seen better, ask Jon if he can suggest any others. It isn't a badly cut stone but I would prefer to see less darkness around the table area.
