I''m looking for an Asscher cut diamond in the 1.75 - 1.95 ct range. I''ve heard that you shouldn''t get that cut less than VS1 / G color, because it''s a lot easier to see imperfections in it. Also, I want a nice windmill shape, so I''m shooting for as close to a 1.00 - 1.02 length / width ratio and VG/VG.

I''d like to find all this for less than $15k. I''m finding diamond really close to my specs...but not exactly and am wondering what''s best to compromise on and still have a great looking diamond. Is it better to go with an H color and VS1...VS2 and G color? Can I go with Good on polish or symmetry?

h/vs2 is fine in the right cut.
Some people like the slight tint of the Js..
Myself i like them H or better or lnmop range but dont care for the ones between.

Here is some I would talk to GOG about bringing in for vids and pictures:
1.83 H VS2 65.4% 61% GIA m-tk vg vg 6.79-6.77x4.43 $10644
1.82 H VS1 67% 60% GIA no vg vg ft 6.94x6.88x4.61 $11994
1.76 G VS2 68.2% 62% GIA tk-vtk no ex ex 6.80-6.74x4.60 $13319

Slightly out of your budget but if you want too hit 2ct this one is awesome..

I think you could get a bigger size stone if you go to a GIA SI1. You''d be surprised how gorgeous the stones are if you find the right one. I have a D colored stone and honestly, I like the look of a G/H stone better. Color is extremely important on asschers and emeralds. Good luck. Asschers are the best!

finding an eyeclean si1 asscher can take a very very very long time and cost a fortune bringing in stones.

And let me add:

If they are really eye-clean...., they might cost almost as much as VS''s...

Mine is a gorgeous "eye clean" SI1 - I've gotten compliments on it from 3 well-known LA dealers and it cost us 8K. It's smaller than I'd like 1.2 but they're out there. They might take longer to find but if you can save some money and not in a rush to get it, it'd be worth it IMO. Hopefully your flaw or "characteristic" could be hidden with the setting if the characteristic were in the corner of the stone.

Hard to find yes but possible! Take time finding your stone. I wish I had spent more time looking at a different variety of stones - larger tables vs. smaller tables, flor vs. no flor.

Finding a stone is a fun process! So many options! Good luck Abnernathy!

I just found a 2.1 ct, H color, VVS2, Ex/Ex (Gia), 1.01 l/w for under $16.2k from a reputable online retailer. Sounds like a great diamond for a great price. There would be a 30-return policy...sounds a little too good to be true, but I think I''m going to buy it. Anything I should be on the lookout for? Should I get it reappraised?

Thanks all!!

Graining *may* be an issue and be the cause for the value.

Can you post a picture and some more details from the GIA report?

Sounds too promising.
