This forum and the many asscher experts have been a blessing during my search for a stone.

My goal is to find a nice asscher diamond.. I am looking for candid feedback on the ASET image below for a 1.8 asscher.
I am really only interested in expert opinions. I am NOT an expert, just a guy looking to find my lady a nice piece she
and I can cherish...thanks in advance for your thoughts on this image!

Hi flst

I notice you underlined and bolded expert opinions, this is a consumer forum where consumers help other consumers.

In that case then the best person to help you would be Karl K as he is really the only asscher expert we have, but you will need more information for him. You will need to provide the following;

depth%
table%
dimensions
crown height%
a clear detailed face up photograph

If he feels this diamond is worth further consideration looking at the ASET, see what he says.

as already written - more info would help.
It is not a bad stone - but the light return may be a problem.
It may be OK - not an easy reject, but .... more info please

ditto the above.

It looks like a JA image if so have your SA find 2 more like it and have their NY gemologist select the best one then post the ASET/Regular picture/crown height/table/depth and dimensions as well as her comments on the diamond.
ASET images are not enough information.

All,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Although I was unable to get all of the information you requested, I thought I would share what I have learned. According to the rep.,
it was confirmed by h that the diamond photographs very dark but does not look dark in person. Not sure what to think about that. I was not sent multiple images, they
only sent one (attached). I have also received the GIA report. If you could comment based on the data I do have, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again for your opinions...I do realize this is a consumer forum but there are quite a few people around that seem to know about asschers!

Since you are interested in Asschers I'll mention the Octavia Asscher.
I just bought one after wearing an excellent Asscher for years.

Compare the look the pic below.
My 2.26 F VVS2 ct asscher is on the left and my 1.34 ct H VS2 Octavia is on the right.

The Octavia is an explosive fireball of color in spotlighting and brighter than a regular asscher in soft lighting,
IMHO, because Octavia lacks the long side bars, inclusions and body color are not as noticeable so you can go lower in color and clarity.

Link to thread about my asschers, long review on pg 9.

Goodoldgold listings.

My regular asscher is from Good Old Gold too, which I recommend for finding well-cut asschers.

Kenny,

Very nice stone, beautiful actually, I am looking for a regular asscher...whoever cut your stone did an amazing job.
Hopefully someone can weigh in on my PDF image of the asscher I attached, I am interested to know some opinions now that I have some detail and the corresponding
image. One item I forgot, the symmetry spec is good. Any thoughts from the group. Thanks in advance.

I think you are missing out on a lot of *valuable* opinions because you are asking for only *experts* to respond.

OK, I really am intersted in opinions from people who consider themselves very knowledeable about diamonds, not just someone like myself
who is here shopping for their first diamond. So, if you are confident in your opinion, by all means, I''m all ears. Thanks.

Since you like the cut here is an ASET pic I took of my asscher, in case it may be of use.

Blue is replaced by dark.

I am not liking the appearance of the steps in the aset image you posted, they are very far in the middle and close at the sides. I think you should take Karl''s advice and try geting a few other contenders to compare to it. I sense that you are in a rush, but rushing a diamond pruchase worth thousands of dollars is not a good plan. It takes time to find the perfect diamond.

If you want opinions of the picture I recommend converting it to a file you can post directly. Most of us will not download an attachment and risk contamination.

looks to be on the dark side both in the pic and ASET.
I would consider more options, its not a train wreck but there are better ones out there.
