I have been looking for an approximately 5mm or 3/4-carat asscher cut diamond. My parameters were 0.7-0.9carat, I or better color and VS2 or better clarity under $2,500.00. I found that I prefered narrow step configuration to wide step. Please offer your opinions on the gem and any alternate gems that you would suggest. I didn't intend to pick a G IF and am open to other asschers. Should I be concerned about the leakage in the inner square or will this be a nice performer? Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Don’t believe it’s “leakage”, but rather, “contrast”. It’s not white or black. It’s light green; indicating weak contrast, but not “leakage”.
From the video, the area of “concern” does light up, when in motion, and it’s not dark, face-on.
It’s a beautiful Asscher.
@Karl_K can probably comment on the ASET, and give a better interpretation of it, but he cannot comment on another Vendor’s Diamond. I’m certain he can give you basic knowledge of what to seek & what to avoid. However, you must keep in mind that this diamond has been propped on its Pavillion 3 facet for imaging. Not the most ideal position for a step cut.

@Matthews1127 thank you for the encouraging words. The vendor described this asscher as "having good proportions for optimal light return and ... lots of balanced brilliance".

I like the diamond that you have posted. I was just reading on p3 and step cuts and suspect that what I have posted may be cut for weight with slightly shallow p3 angles? This is a whole new dimension to me! Please feel free to weigh in.

My reference was that the videographer rested the diamond on P3 facet for examination/viewing purposes. Evaluating a step cut diamond, while it’s resting on P3 facet makes it more difficult; it’s awkward.
As far as the cut of the diamond, that wasn’t my reference. What leads you to the conclusion that your diamond is cut for weight, and too deep? It’s dimensions?

Adding: if you’re interested in 0.76FVVS2, place it on hold & request ASET on it, for comparison.
