Greetings,

I've been doing a lot of research and based on the numbers have it narrowed down to two:

Diamond 1:
Carat: 1.51
Dimensions: 7.73 x 5.60 x 3.49
Depth %: 62.40
Table%: 68.00

Diamond 2:
Carat: 1.41
Dimensions: 7.94 x 5.62 x 3.64
Depth%: 64.70
Table%: 59.00

Diamond 2 does show a lot red in the ASET which I heard was a good thing. Any thoughts or advice?

Why are the lines of steps in ASET 2 undefined? Is it just the picture? Any idea of the crown height of both stones?

On the right side you can see a faint separation of the steps but thats all I can see

I don't have numbers on the crown height for either, but intuitively the crown height on diamond 2 compared to diamond 1 has to be larger given the table and depth, right?

Unfortunately, that assumption is untrue. It would depend on the weight distribution, whether most of it is in the pavilion or there is still sufficient height in the crown area. I would ask JA if they have a better picture of EC 2.

Thanks for the helpful links.

EC 1 is what Karl considers a classic EC with a shallower depth and larger table. It makes it very easy to see the beautiful steps but with reduced sparkles in the corners and not as flashy as the modern EC under most lighting conditions. You'll also get more table glare. From the look of the ASET, I am not inclined to go with this one. If the ASET has more red, then it is a contender.

EC2 is the modern style (unofficial name) with a higher crown and smaller table. Crown height looks fine in the video. ASET looks great. But I still want to see the pattern and I'm having a hard time making that out. The step pattern is part of an EC's charm so it matters.

Really big p2 facets right at 41 degrees. Lots of red in the ASET.
But in some lighting they look like this with super huge dark zones.
There is a school of thought that says cut em this way because they are bright face up and the yield is very good but the tilt performance and scintillation suffers because of it.

Ah....that makes a lot of sense now why I cannot make out the individual steps in the rotating video. It's sort of like the EC ASET below in your tutorial. Although it shows a lot of red in the middle, it doesn't automatically make it an excellent performer in all lighting situations.
