Hey guys, Thanks for the big help recently. I just received the ASET images for 2 diamonds, but they dont have one for my 3rd option. Let the best Diamond win!

NO ASET
 
I* personally dont like the darkness (black oval) showing up in the second stone. You can see it even when you make the stone small.

I do like the size of the first stone. You are getting darkness on the E/W sides but it doesnt make a good portion of the table go dark
when you make it small.

I still like the faceting pattern of the 8 main but prefer the size of the .62.

Just chiming in to say I adore the 8-main cushion you have on hold (your third stone) - after searching far and wide for my perfect cushion, that was the best of all cut options imho. I have a thread in my post history if you’d like to see the results when I replaced my cushion.

It’s a shame JA can’t get you an ASET because I think your intended will love it.

I haven’t read all of the background on your search, but what I gathered from your three options is you’re wanting to stay under $1500 for the stone. If you don’t have color restrictions I’d suggest you also look at this 8-main I found:

With either the advantage pricing or $100 off for new JA customers, the stone will be under $1500. At a VS1, I wouldn’t be concerned with clouds being listed as a clarity characteristics. And with the lower depth/higher spread of this stone, it’ll face up larger than any of the ones you’ve listed.

Look forward to it - Fingers crossed they will be able to provide one to you! It will likely show more black/blue contrast at N/S and E/W in the static ASET compared to your other 8-main on hold, but I am certain when the stone moves IRL, the facets should turn on and off to show a nice contrast.

Well just received the email saying they do not have a ASET image for it. Decisions..decisions :?:

Sounds like the stone is likely overseas, which is not unusual. What I’ve done in the past is order the stone and have them take an ASET for my approval before setting it. If it didn’t meet my expectations, I reject the stone and find an alternate one.

This would require you to purchase it - and it would mean the holds on the other stones will expire before you can confirm. It usually takes 3-5 days to receive the image. Sometimes sooner. I’m not sure if your timeframe will allow for all of this, but it still does involve deciding which route you want to go... good news is you have some great options to choose from. =)2
 
Those two above are very nice 8-main cuts. Unless you’re really wanting cushions that are 1.00 ratio, I think the E/VS2 you originally listed is a better option and will face up a bit larger.

I agree but unfortunately I believe they sold it on me :( so now I'm all over the place again lol
 
I'd choose the first one. Every mm counts in stones this size, and the cut is nice. Beautiful diamond.

Thanks! You don't think the tint will be noticeable? It's going into a halo and said stones at G-F

Oh no.... that’s unfortunate. I agree with @diamondseeker2006 that every mm counts. And yes, you will likely notice the tint if the cushion is lower than an H and surrounded by F/G melee. I did.

I found another 8-main that is a D/VS2 and larger face-up than all of the stones you’ve listed.

I like the last one @stonewell posted. You have to ask them if it is in-house, and if it is 100% eyeclean. That would be my only concern, but I think it will be.

As to the first one, people put I color in halos all the time, but I think G-H is safer. D, obviously, is very safe.

My pleasure! Definitely have the gemologist confirm it’s eye-clean as @diamondseeker2006 recommended. I also think it will be since the crystal appears clear - at least it does viewing it supersized on my screen. lol
 
Not a good ASET and too small compared to the .55 D and the .62 I. I just hope the .55 D ASET would be better than this one. So far, the .62 I has the best ASET.

If you continue to look, eliminate those under 4.9mm, because you have two possibilities that size or close to it.
