I can not figure out how to read an ASET image compared to an Idealscope image. Can someone please have a look at the following image and tell me what they think ot it? Thanks,

For a comprehensive and yet basic approach (is there another approach but basic on visual resources like this?), see Garry''s review above under Tools/Idealscope, or here.

Amateur thoughts....

a) looks cherry (oops sorry, that''s bottom right, and gives us a clue where you''ve seen it from)
b) I find the limited selection I can otherwise browse through on the WF site puzzling. That is, I''ve seen no ACA Princesses or X factors with Aset, but I do see some of their ES stones with. Why?
c) Because I''m at work, going directly to their sight, I need to leave it quickly, thinking my boss will worry I''m looking at pornography, with those girls moving, etc.
d) but...based on a combination of 1) reviewing issues of symmetry I see as excellent under Garry''s examples, 2) the text discussing favorable proportions of red to other colors like green, and 3) a comparison of some other options at WF,
e) I find I''m not in love.

But, please review with others. It gets their cherry, which should count for something.

I''ll be interested in reading what others have to say, too.

I''m not an expert, but here is some basic stuff about ASET.

Here''s an explanation from www.ideal-scope.com:

ASET shows where a diamond gathers its light.

Blue is blocked by the observer (some blue adds contrast)
Red is best: most light comes from above –from the ceiling
Green is OK; it is reflected and from windows, but red is better
White shows how much leakage is present (bad, especially when the leakage is adjacent to blue; when you will see a large dead dark zone in normal lighting)

Hope this helps.

There have been many ASET images taken that you’re not seeing simply because the diamonds have sold and are gone now. This time of year there is a lot of turnover. Some diamonds are up for less than a day. Others are sold while still at the lab waiting for the grading report to be produced.

As of this moment I show 41 unsold ACA Princess with ASET photos. That leaves over 100 - either waiting in line, or we didn’t do them before they went to the lab. (edited to add): We choose to task ES Princess ASET photos before ACA Princess because the ACAs have the AGS Ideal '0' grade in light performance as a matter of course.

We’ll continue to add ASET images as stock revolves, but photos of rings and custom pieces we’re finishing for paying customers take priority. At this time of year we could add several full time people and still be racing to keep up… Interested in a job?

By the way - because I know you like to know such info Ira - we’ve developed a label: “New Item – Call for Availability” is appearing on pages of diamonds which are still at the lab waiting for their reports to be finished, or in transit back to us.

How about evening, weekend, and all the steak I can eat across the street?

Best of wishes of course this busy time of year...good to hear diamonds are racing out the door.

A few by the ways....

a) locally, Mervis Diamond Importers are "having their way" with the Blood Diamond movie, promoting on the radio: our diamonds are from South Africa, away from those problems area. Can anyone else in the DC area say the same?

b) Thanks for the tip about call for availability, but I think you should keep the category, but develop different language, lest it be confused with other options you make "available," but are not otherwise in house until you make them so.

c) You know those computer fake spread sheets that can be brought up to make your boss think your working, when really you''re doing computer games? Too bad the words for "off" and "on" both start with "o." Consider having a button on your web site that says GTO1 or GTO2, or something better, that stands for optionally...girls turned off (1), or girls turned on (2).

This could be effecting a big viewing market!

With good cheer,

With good cheer,

Great suggestion Ira. We agree. We have changed the label to "New Item - Call for Arrival Date." The acompanying statement in our FAQ (products) reads like this:

"Diamond Details
When a diamond in our search engine indicates "Item Available - Ready to ship," it''s an ''A Cut Above'' or ''Expert Selection'' diamond located at Whiteflash. A diamond indicating "Call for Availability" is located with one of our suppliers; quickly available to us. "New Item - Call for Arrival Date" indicates a diamond just cut and polished which is still in transit from the lab we sent it to for grading (see below)."

Thank you for the help.

It will be interesting to see how different segments of the trade respond to the awareness generated by the movie (some thoughts at the end of this post).

I don''t know about GT01 or GT02 - but I asure you there won''t be any GGW.
