Hi guys,
This my first post and I was looking at buying an emerald cut e-ring for my girlfriend soon. I have a stone I like right now that has great brilliance throughout, but I'm a bit concerned about this ASET picture that was taken. If anybody can give some guidance on if the ASET is good or what's wrong with it I'd greatly appreciate it!

Um.

Well. Here are my thoughts.
Have you seen this in person? Or are these pics from a vendor?
How many emerald cuts have you evaluated? Seen in person and spent time with? Is this your first?
Where do you get the information that the diamond displays great brilliance? Is that your eval or someone elses?
I am wondering about the ASET set up. Where is this from? Is it at your home? It is a professional set up?

I don't think we have enough information to really evaluate things right now.

Why don't you tell us some more.

How many emerald cuts have you evaluated? Seen in person and spent time with? Is this your first? I've looked a couple of emerald cut stones from Harry Winston and Tiffany & Co of various sizes in person, this stone seems to have great brilliance on the top and bottom, edges of the stone.
Where do you get the information that the diamond displays great brilliance? Is that your eval or someone elses? This is my own personal eval based on the stones I've seen from the vendors I listed (not a whole lot of emerald cuts stocked in shops around me outside of HW and Tiffany & Co
I am wondering about the ASET set up. Where is this from? Is it at your home? It is a professional set up? It was taken in the office of the independent jeweler, as far as set up...I don't really know what constitutes a professional one. The owner basically put the stone in the ASET container and pulled up the live image on his computer. Is there a more standardized way of doing this that I can request?

It looks like the p3 angle has some leakage.
This https://www.pricescope.com/journal/performance-and-p3-facets-discussion-about-step-cut-diamonds thread shows some good examples and talks about p3 angles.

It's hard to see in your pictures, but what you would expect to see is some background seen through the center of the stone.

Personally, from your pictures it does look like a wonderful stone. I would recommend going online to James Allen (where you can spin diamonds about from a video) and comparing performance or seeing what types you do like to understand your preferences some more.

Hi Starrylight, thanks for the insight! I read that article and did notice that the center was a bit darker than I'd like - from the side I do notice the window effect at a tilted angle (if that means you can see through the stone to the finger), but my favorite part about the stone is that the way it's cut and the fire on the edges of the stone cause the long side of the edges to feel like they bulge out a little more to give the stone less of an over elongated feel (sorry if my terminology is off -__-")

I guess my main question that's holding me back from the stone is whether or not the light leakage in the center is a reason to not go for this stone? I can honestly say the brilliance is a good as any Harry Winston stone, where there was good brilliance throughout, but nothing that really wowed the senses.

Here are the specs of the stone if you wouldn't mind helping me out:

$7500
GIA Cert
6.99x5.11x3.51
L/W: 1.36
1.21 F VS1
61 table
68.6 depth
Polish: excellent
Symmetry: very good

I also attached a couple more photos (my friend's pinky size is the same size as my girlfriend's) and added more contrast to the ASET image to hopefully pull more insight from the experts here :)

Here's another pic with the light hitting it (the pictures were taken under one of those lamps that simulate daylight brightness).
