Someone asked about this the other day and I didn't not have a computer that would run DC then(I finally rounded up enough working junk to make one) so thought I would post it.
It is fun to be able to play again.

Is this you just playing with the software or does this stone really exist? I want to see a real picture of it to see how it looks!

It is virtual.
The only difference between it and the standard diamcalc reference RB is the girdle.
This is it in DC js lighting which is the one I use the most.

This shows the issue with it other than horrible spread.
These numbers would be around 98 with a regular girdle.
It drops off in a visible manner under tilt but face up it is actually brighter in some parts of the diamond.

LOL yes. 1.30ct at 6mm! That's some girdle! Otherwise though yea ... the optics don't look too bad actually! Truth is ... thick girdles (not the uber thick one here) generally don't impact light performance much anyhow.

Great point Jon- in many cases Fancy Colored Diamonds that have amazing light performance have slightly to very thick girdles. IN some cases the cutter can use the thick girdle as a component of color retention technology.
But 6mm 1.30cts??

Playing around I find it depends on the crown/pavilion angles, some are affected not at all and some more so by thick to reasonable very thick. It shows up about ~15+ degrees tilt.
Which makes sense when you think about it.

This is actually one of my gripes with the AGS cut grading system. There's a considerable cut grade penalty for unduly thick girdles. The problem is that, in most cases, the customer is paying for weight but getting diameter. Most people would rather have a bigger spread and weight in the girdle is seen as wasted. Maybe so, but that depends on the price. Is it a better light performance if it's cheaper?

Great point Neil- and I've been on this for years.
Many PS discussions of Light Performance ignore spread.
The HCA actually has a very nice component regarding spread- but the issue with the tool is how many ( most) consumers use the HCA- selection rather than rejection. They look at the score and don't put a lot of weight on the comments- specifically regarding spread.

This reminds me of esperanza. In fact, when I saw esperanza, I was like "THAT girdle..."
Poor man/woman's esperanza.... Actually.. I like it.. especially on a tension set..
