So, most of you know my house story... at least how the first one fell through.
Here''s the one that didn''t get away. I am an idiot who cannot post a collage, so forgive the multiple posts.

The house is a really old one, built in 1930. It has three fireplaces, none of which work, but we''re hoping to at least be able to make one work! We''re in the process of painting and fixing it up, but the pics give you a general idea of where we are.

Location wise, we live in Atlanta-- in the actual city of Atlanta, not the suburbs. Our house is near the historical Grant Park Zoo. We could have bought so much more house if we wanted to live in the burbs, but FI and I love our intown living.

So, without further ado, our fixer-upper! The front, as it appears from the street. We will probably have the exterior painted when we get our first tax refund!!

It''s a two bedroom, one bath. We might eventually build up because there is plenty of room in the attic and the ceilings are quite high. Here is the view from the street. The house sits on a little hill, up above the street... this entrance leads to our back screened in deck.

Here is our little garage out back.

Oh my gosh Tybee.. could your house be any freaking CUTER? Its GORGEOUS.. Can''t wait to see more pics!!

Here is the view from the back yard to the screened in porch. NOte the lack of grass, it''s quite shady, don''t know if we''ll be able to grow it!!!! We spend a really long afternoon spreading all the pine straw, though.

Oh Melissa,
You are so sweet! What are you doing up? I''m covered in paint and primer, and just getting to posting these, but I don'' t have to teach tomorrow, so I have an excuse!

Tybee

The back deck is maybe one of the main reasons why we fell in love with this baby! Here is a view from the inside, note the vaulted ceiling.

Tybee the house is AWESOME!!! It''s WAY BETTER than the one you lost...see great things happen when the first house falls through!!! I love it. Too cute for words really. I know you said it''s a fixer upper but it looks absolutely adorable to me and I love the fact that it''s on it''s own little hill away from the street. Congrats!!

It''s really hard to take pictures of, here are our temporary chairs on the deck right now.

*gasp* LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It''s so craftsman-y and DARLING!! Love the steps, the overall shape, the porch!

CONGRATS!!!!!!

I lived in Atlanta in ''96 (worked for the olympics) but I don''t know Grant Park well. I used to hang out in Decatur a lot. (Well and Buckhead of course--I was 22!!)

LOVE THE HOUSE!!! YAY!!

Thanks so much Mara,
I really do appreciate your support through the first one, I cannot tell you how much your
posts helped me through the processing, especially when we were contemplating borrowing money, which
we really ddn''t end up having to do!

The house is a bit of a fixer upper, I just haven''t shown you the inside yet!
Here goes.

Here''s the living room. We''re painting now, obviously... and soon we''ll redo the hardwoods.

That ceiling shot is DREAMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND... here''s the front porch--- you might see the peeling paint in this one.

Thanks Blueroses!

Yes, I actually LOVE Decatur, but it''s a little pricey for us. We had to shop around in a more "transitional" neighborhood.

That''s all for tonight ladies, it might be summer, but I''m still on a teacher schedule.

I just cannot wait until we move our furniture there and make it our own! Thanks for ALL of your support, and thanks for looking!!!

Tybee

Fixer upper?! That''s not what I call fixer upper!!! That house is just GORGEOUS - all the details and design...I love it!!

The inside looks fab too!! All that charm and character, love it! It will be SO beautiful when it's all painted inside and out...we all know how big a difference paint makes. I can totally see something like Chestertown Buff in that big living room..tee hee..my new fave color. And I bet it gets lots of light, so pretty. I'm SO happy for you!!! Have fun with it!

Ha ha ha, I guess it''s not really a "fixer-upper" it'' just in need of a few cosmetic repairs. Being that we''re not too handy, it''s just our speed!
I said I was done, but now I have some "new house" buzz or something. Here''s the kitchen. The appliances are a bit outdated, and I''m not sure about white cabinets (I''d rather have a light stained wood.) The shelves are strange to me, because i like to hide things behind doors, but it''s fun to show off our plates and wine glasses from our registry up there!

AND here''s our "breakfast nook" but it''s big enough for the dining room table from Crate and Barrel that we''ve been eyeing.
What''s that color Mara? Now I have to look it up!!!! I''m second guessing all color choices lately!
Google, here I come.

Wow, that''s a fixer upper? We should all be so lucky.

Congrats!

The place is amazing!!!! it is by far not a ''fixer-upper'' and seems to be in great shape!! just a few touches and it''ll be ready in no time!! can''t wait to see some more pics and the ''after'' pics as well!!!! wat an excellent place =))))

congratulations!

Oh Tybee!

What an adorable charmer you''ve got there! I cant wait to see it when it is all complete....it is going to be fun making it your own...Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Did I mention how much I love you guys? You really got me excited all over again!
Thanks!

deck... drool.

Good job! And judging by the pictures it seems to be on a nice size, somewhat "secluded" and well-landscaped plot, esp. for being "intown". Great choice!

Tybee--Your house is just gorgeous. It looks like you just have a few cosmetic changes to make. I love the porch.

I know what you mean about it''s hard to leave central city living for the ''burbs. I live in a downtown neighborhood in my town too. I have a very nice city park across the street from my house. I can walk to work. I just like the buzz downtown. I love how the houses are all different and have so much character. My friends in the suburbs tell me I''m nuts though...their houses are bigger, they have less maintenence. But I wouldn''t trade my more urban house for any of theirs.

tybee, you have the most amazing taste in houses.

the style, the charm, the warmth -- it is my dream house. i love the craftsman details. i love the deck, the roof, the windows...man, i love it.

honestly, it''s my total dream house, especially my newlywed house. you are going to make so many beautiful memories in that house!

congratulations.

...maybe we should move to atlanta

Oh wow, it''s absolutely adorable! What a great house and it really doesn''t look like it needs much work. I dream of owning a house one day. My husband and I are in the process of buying a condo in NYC but I would love a house like yours. It''s gorgeous. Congratulations!

i love love love this house.
honestly, this is like my dream house! its sooo fantastic and great!! wow!
congrats :)

Oh, Tybee, I love love love your new house!!!

It''s SO much nicer than the the first house you were eyeing. All of the details are fabulous--the vaulted ceiling in the deck, the adorable path to the entrance, all of the wood trim & hardwood floors...I could go on all day.
2.gif
It looks like it''s in great shape now--with a fresh coat of paint, it''ll be perfect! Congratulations--you must be on cloud 9!

Cute house, I love all the greenery :)

How perfect is that... I''m so jealous!!! Right now we''re center-city city-dwelllers... so no houses to be had here! Only little condos in tall, tall buildings, and some in brownstones if you want to venture back a few streets. But grass and trees and porches and garages are a novelty! Having a doorman and mailman and 24-hour maintenance staff was fun for a while, but I''m ready to move on. I can''t wait til we''re able to grill out and not pay $300/month for parking 3 blocks away and actually know our neighbors! (Funny how you can share a wall with somebody in an apartment building, but still see them less than you would if you lived in next-door houses in a neighborhood...)
