Hi there,

I was hoping to get some help with identifying a pair of earrings. They are a clip-on style, I didn't pay very much for them and I am not sure on their age or material. I have been unsuccessful so far in trying to identify the mark on the back, I believe it is a 'D'? Any help if anyone recognises the style or mark would be very much appreciated. Is the red solid, perhaps Bakelite, or a coating, like enamel?

Your earrings are almost certainly costume jewelry. My very uneducated guess would be that they date from the 60’s or 70’s, but that is more guess than anything else.
Here are a few sites about American costume jewelry:

It’s hard to make out the mark because of reflections, but it looks to me like it might be “XO2” (or “KO2,” but XO2 sort of makes sense, as in XOXO or “hugs and kisses.”)
