Very nice stone Arjunajane! I have had the pleasure of some recent communications with Jon, he is a real professional. I can see why you dealt with him.

Only problem now is I''m gonna be asking every lady who''s bling burns my eye if they are Arjunajane

That''s a pretty sizable rock for our little town. At least in my neck of the woods (I''m sure you said Perth somewhere on the boards - disregard if I''m off base, lol! )

Look forward to seeing the finished item

Woweeee! Can''t wait to see the finished product!!

I was in Perth last week and I have to tell you what a truly beautiful city!! I felt myself looking around for someone wearing a PoH and then I remembered that you were trading it in. My partner was actually talking about moving to Perth and we had been there less than a week!

Thankyou Bev!

Thanks Pieface and Honey - wow such fun to be able to talk about Perth. Bee is here right now too from (I think) Ireland, so exciting!
36.gif

Pie, I didn''t realize you were from here aswell! I know what you mean about the size of my stone - it will be the largest well cut stone I''ve ever seen - and I think its great!
9.gif
. I agree, I hardly ever see larger stones here. I''m pretty sure everyone will think its just fake, lol.
I don''t mind, if you ever clock me in the street I will love to talk to you and show it off
2.gif

Do you mind if I ask what area you live in ?(but pls don''t if you don''t want to)..

Honey my love! I forgot, I was going to ask if you still made it over - where did you end up deciding to stay? Did you have fun? The weather has been rubbish, sorry!
That will be great if you and your guy move to Perth - with me, Pie, you and visitors like Bee we will be on our way to our very own mini Aussie PS catch-up, yay!

Pie, I just saw your pics from Rosendorffs in that other thread, I love your ring. So I remember now that you must be in Perth..may I ask, how was your experience with R''dorff''s? Just as I''ve never actually met anyone who has purchased from them.
I did a lil research with them deciding on my new purchase, and found the SA''s to be a little rude..
40.gif
But maybe thats just me.

Just for the record, AllGem Jewellers at the front of London Court (just up from R''dorff''s), are imho the top guys in Perth for ideal cut stones. So far they are the only ones I have spoken to who really knew their stuff. They also have a really good range of gold - I am coveting a chain and bangle from there!

Dreamer, I have seen pics of your lovely Legato before, but just looked through your whole thread. I agree, you would never know your gorgeous stone is a J!
i just hope my K and ring are as lovely
5.gif
LOL! It will be almost TWICE as lovely since it is almost twice as big! I think it will be killer, the legato in gold will be awesome. The setting is able 10x more delicate in person that it looks in pics. To be perfectly honest, when I upgrade I am going to get a more substantial setting. My hands are a size 6 and although part of me like the look of the 2.5mm band, another part likes the way that a more substantial band has more presence on the hand, KWIM? If you are used to more substantial settings, think about that. This is a "dainty" setting for sure.

Hmmm.thanks for the advice Dreamer. This is actually something I gave quite alot of thought to. My preferences were all over the place the last couple months while deciding. I thought I liked more modern. chunky rings - but the fact is I have really short hands with reasonably small fingers (4.5), so thinner styles should be teh way to go for me.
My current ering is I think about 3ish mm, so I''m hopeing I won''t notice too much.
thanks for the heads up hon!

Beautiful stone! I have a soft spot for K''s. Can''t wait to see the finished ring!

Hi AJ (is that OK to call you that?),

I'll just say Northern Suburbs and leave it at that. New wifey probably wouldn't be stoked at giving out the address on the net to unknown ladies with large diamonds, lol!

For Rosendorffs...

I found them to be quite good, I dealt through the Karrinyup store although I did go a couple of times to the Perth store also. My purchase was more or less finalised prior to finding PS so I don't know how the SA would handle more technical questions than I was asking at the time. Also the majority of their diamonds are IGI cert. I didn't get offered any GIA or AGS stones when I looked at loose stones in town, I'm pretty happy with the stone I got for what it's worth.

The SA were very polite and courteous to me when I first went in and I think I was wearing trackie-dacks haha! Of course they are trying to upsell you the whole time and bring out some stones much larger/more expensive than your budget but that is just a typical sales angle. In town I was assisted by two staff members but ended up back at Karrinyup for my purchase.

I went to a few other jewellers too of course. I found Solid Gold to be really pushy, indeed it was a bizarre experience overall, I can see why people buy from there though. I just felt that the goldwork wasn't finished as nicely as Rosendorff. Mazzucchelli were probably the worst for snobbish SA's I walked around in one for 10 minutes - dressed nicely this time - and didn't even get a hello.

I have seen all-gems at London Court but haven't ventured in. I did see a ring I liked in their window for my wedding band but it was like $1k so a fair bit over budget. I may have to have a look now. I go to another guy in London Court, he made the ring in my avatar for me. Have you heard any feedback on Jogia Diamonds? They are on the net but based in Perth. They seem to stock AGS and GIA stones along with Idealscope images vids etc...?

WAITING is HARD!!!
Ooooh, I love it, my DH and I had a long talk recently about k''s he didn''t think it was even possible (we''re talking about a 10year upgrade in 8 years, lol!)
Had to show him your beauty!
Can''t wait to see the final work!

Thankyou Burk and 2danes -2danes if you''re considering the upgrade but need to comprmise for whatever reason on one of the C''s (as I did), I would strongly recommend looking at J or K stones (if you''re not highly colour sensitive). I will give a full report on the colour once I have the ring, but Jon has done several vids for me and couldn''t tell a thing that would bother me

Hi again Pie (you can call me AJ!)
of course i don''t mind about the address thing, lol, I wouldn''t expect you to! I''m also in Northern ''burbs though, so you never know we could be neighbours
5.gif

Thankyou for filling me in on your experience with Rosendorffs. I am glad you were happy with them, and yours is a very pretty ring.
I must admit I haven''t ever been to the Karrinyup store - I just had a weird experience in the city store..lets just say the lady was Very persistent that I tell her my exact budget, even though I said I was just looking at that stage. She asked like 4 times, then got really weird when I didn''t tell her a figure..
40.gif
33.gif

Anyway, I agree with you about your observations on the other places - solid gold erings I don''t think are very attractive, and mazza''s are just a bit "maul" style imho..ok for a watch or bangle, but maybe not an ering
1.gif

Jogia have a good reputation, and Mr Jogia posts occasionally on RT. I did early on in my search go to visit them, but didn''t realize it was by appointment only.
They don''t have a showroom or anything just a small office upstairs in the city where I imagine they sit and show diamonds. I think they have some of the technologies etc, so it would be a fun and educational experience that you most likely can''t get elsewhere in Perth.

I didn''t realze until recently how many jewellers are upstairs in London Court ! I''ll have to go exploring sometime

Glad you got my joke about the address thing, I worry sometimes that it doesn''t come across on message boards

Jewelery stores are funny places. They spend a lot of money looking flash and then a SA can mess it all up by taking the wrong tack. The first impression really counts and the SA often seem like they have only been taught one way to approach a sale. They don''t seem to read the customer and adjust their approach to suit the customer. It sounds as though the SA should have picked up on your comment and instead offered to show you a range of size or price options or some other alternate instead of continuing to harp on about budget. I know that a SA being persistant with me tends to get me ticked off!

With the boom there are far too many rich tradies etc wandering around at the moment to judge someones spending capacity by the way they look or speak.

I noticed you apologised to Honey for the weather. I work in agriculture so I am hoping we have plenty more foul weather - sorry Bee
2.gif

Nice to hear your thoughts on Jogia. I spotted a 1.12ct K there the other day when I was looking at strong Blue flouro stones.

Thankyou dh97! I can''t wait either.

Hi again Pie - I actually really love big storms myself , we have some nice ones here. I just feel bad for the gals visiting from o/seas is all - although, I think its even nicer down south at this time than in the summer.
I can imagine that you are thankful for the rain though considering your work .
In the big storm the other weekend, a tree next door fell onto a neighbours house and all
6.gif
However, I have to admit we weren''t too sad - that tree had been blocking our city views for years, lol!
2.gif
11.gif

And I completely agree with you about SA''s needing to be a lil more adaptive. As you said, there are literally hundreds of 20-something yr olds with 80k salaries burning holes in their pockets in our fine state at the moment. I have discussed this with other people and also in my own workplace - I think it poses an interesting oppurtunity for businesses and SA''s here to broaden their mindsets.

That stone from Jogia sounds promising ! Will you go see them do you think?

jane, it''s absolutely gorgeous. So crisp and pristine!!

When do you expect it from WF?

Hi gemgirl, thankyou for the compliment!
I have just sent all my wires etc and confirmed my orders today, so WF expect about 14 working days for finish/delivery date..of course I am hoping asap, but I don''t want to rush perfection

That is a great stone. I can''t wait to see it set either! Good luck and may you have LOTS of patience.
