ARGH!!!

So today was a lovely, warm winter day, so I decided to take my lovely dog and my lovely boyfriend to the dog park. Clearly not such a good idea. See picture below. Note, this is my left ring finger, and the part that broke off was 1/2 inch or more long. It was beautiful and lovely, and now if I get a holiday ring, it will be on a hideous mangled finger. HIDEOUS. The nail broke so far down that I couldn't even cut it all off. It will take weeks just to grow enough to cut it all off and start over.

My ring finger is sooo unlucky. First I ruptured a tendon in it (in college playing flag football

), so I can't bend the top joint. As a consequence, I can't move it with the same dexterity as the others, which caused me to lacerate it while cooking a few weeks ago. That just healed, and now this! I told SO that I should just spare myself the trouble and cut the whole thing off!

Unbelievable.

YOWCH! You poor thing! Any chance you can let it just grow out far enough to put a fake on top of it? (By far enough I mean so that the poor raw skin under neath has some nail over it so you wouldn't get any glue on the skin.) Just an idea...

It hurt when it happened, and was throbbing, but it wasn't terrible over all, just sore. Until the dog jumped me again, and the hangnail twist and was sideways and perpendicular to the nail bed, so half my nail was stabbing the nail bed. THAT was intense. Then we were walking home, and SO bumped into me and the same thing happened AGAIN! Owwiie! He was sweet though, and offered to get band-aids and ointment from the store.

And the picture was the cleaned up version, after disinfectant and water, nail trimming, etc. Before, it was a bloody mangled mess.

That looks so painful, you poor thing! Make sure you let it air without the bandaide (if you wound up putting a dressing on it) so that moisture doesn''t build up, and wear gloves if you have to wash anything in the sink. Feel better!

ouch...I hav nails that break real easy so I know what you are going through...they say that garlic cloves and clear nail polish make your nails grow faster....my grandma told me that....it actually works too!!!

Ouch!! Please pour some hydrogen peroxide over it. A good dose. Then neosporin, with a band aid. Keep at it for the next few days. I am so sorry.

I''ve had that happen and MAN is it painful....I''m sorry that your poor ring finger keeps taking a beating. Maybe if you do get a sparklie it will protect your finger as if it were an angel watching over you..
