From one LOTR dork to another, I LOVE your name!!

Thanks! What''s the story behind Tuckins?

Mixture of my maiden name and married name. I needed to keep a little of my old, pre-marriage identity!

The name I wanted Chickadee - which is my nickname from my mom- was taken (and I don''t like adding numbers). So then SO and I have this thing about our relationship and the moon (long cheesy story) so I was going to do Luna - also taken. So I picked a specific moon. And one of Jupiter''s moon''s had the coolest names (which also happened to be the name of a very mean parrot I used to own).

I loved the TV show The West Wing and hated to see it end. One of the characters was Zoe Bartlett (she was the president''s daughter), and I liked how it sounded. Also, coincidently, one of our cats is named Zoe.

Fun! Nope, not a packrat. JD is, tho. When I decided to join, I''d been lurking for a while and noticed that most posters didn''t use their names, so I tried to come up w/something and after a few tries happening to already be in use, I got ticked and thought whatever, I''ll type this in for crying out loud-my mom was calling herself a packrat earlier, and it was in my head (she''s not one either) and I''ll be damned if it wasn''t accepted. I thought aw crap, why couldn''t I have come up w/something different? Ah well!

I know I wasn''t asked but because I have occasionally had my SN interpreted to mean that I am a very religious person, I''ll take a second to share:

My SN was created back when I was an LIW. I was Keepingthefaith that he would propose. 21 is the date I was born.

Usually I''m just KTF - which always makes me laugh because it''s a little too close to KTFU

Cehra is how I decided I would spell my name in 9th grade when Sara was too boring. It lasted about a month. Forward about 10 years to when I was first got on the internet and needed a SN I wanted something similar but not exact to my name... And my nickname as a little kid was Sara Bear so I just chose CehraBehra - it really is so easy to spell but it confuses people a lot and I have regretted it off and on, but it''s kinda stuck now lol

Packie, your story had me cracking up.

You''re destroying the magic for me here! I thought it was some exotic foreign princess name.

You didn't ask me about mine, but I don't think I mentioned it in any of the earlier threads, so I'll share anyways

. Kama means 'Desire' in Sanskrit. Not just in the passionate way that we know (i.e. kamasutra, which essentially means the 'book of desire'), but desire for anything - be it knowledge, love, nirvana etc etc. It's supposed to be one of the four goals in life according to the Hindu scriptures. I've loved the meaning of the word since I was little.

I initially signed onto PS with just 'Kama', forgot I signed up and tried to re-register with that name. Obviously got the message that it was already taken, so I added my first name's initial to it!

My first name is Magdalen (although I go by Maggi with family and friends). Anywho, I got the nickname Magnadoodle in elementary school, it got shortened to Doodle over the years, and I''m stuck with it. I can''t even remember the last time I heard my bff actually use my name! It''s such a habit for her that she''s even introduced me to someone as Doodle before!

when i look at diamonds i see "dancing fire"

Steal -- you did just change the spelling of your name, right? I could have sworn it was ''Steel.''

I was JUST thinking the same thing! Am I going crazy?
Me too!

I picked Burberrygirl because I went through a phase of only buying Burberry purses, plus I love their scarves! My real name is Marley, my nicknames used to be Mar or Mar Mar. I absolutely hated when people would call me Mar Mar
11.gif
, I''m fine with Mar though. I probably should have used something closer to my real name in my PS name. I hope people don''t think I''m superficial or snobby

Ooo, I''m first on your list! I''ll share. I''ve used my name long before PS on messaging applications, etc in college.

My name is from Lord of the Rings. Elrond has two sons (they didn''t make it into the movies) and one is named Elrohir. It basically means Elvish knight, and I like to ride horses, so I thought it was fitting. I just changed the -hir ending to -wen to make it a feminine name.

I''m pretty sure that makes me a huge dork
3.gif
DH''s bestman actually brought up my name in his speech at our wedding - I guess he and DH thought it was so cool that I was a Lord of the Rings dork when they first met me

You know I was wondering about your name at first, too. And then after reading it one day I said to myself... "That HAS to be from Lord of the Rings"! Cool to know I was on the right track. It''s an awesome screen name.

It was my friend''s nickname. She loved sparkly things and I thought I would honor the memory.

My friend had two horses, I was the only other one who rode so one was "mine" - Yssie.

He passed a couple of years ago

My PS name is my absolutely favourite girls name ever. My birth name isn''t anywhere as pretty! I have recently changed my name and funnily enough I didn''t choose Maisie. I wanted a bible name.

Ha! I actually suspected your name had a LOTR link. Yes, I''m a LOTR dork too. I''ve actually used Artanis as a screen name from time to time.

Oo, I like Artanis. I have to search to see who that name was related to

I haven''t read the books in the last couple of years and I''m losing my store of ridiculous trivia.

I always liked Elrohwen because it was tweaked from the actual name (and pretty obscure in the first place) so it''s always available, unlike Eowyn or something.

I'll never tell

To answer your question Kenny - yes the name means something for my r'ship.

although, this is kinda funny as one of our vendors asked me the exact same thing a couple days ago...

I like the original / different screen names, fun to try to figure out.

Yes, Kenny. I''m originally from Vegas.

I partied. A Lot.

My original name was smurfysmiles because I like the smurfs and I like to smile

But then I became a big brat.
So I took some time off from pricescope.
I returned as smurfyimproved

It is an awesome screen name. I always wondered about it, too. Now I know the story. Very cool!

My screen name''s Portia and I race a Porsche.

My screen name is Mrs Mitchell and it amused me because in real life, the concept of being called Mrs DH''s lastname offends me to my core. If anyone I knew in real life was looking, it was the last thing they''d think I''d call myself. The day I joined I''d received a letter addressed to Mrs Mitchell and I was about to write return to sender on it, before realising that it was meant for me.

Oh my God...People have such romantic reasons for their names. Please do not laugh at me...it is big self-disclosure.

Well, I am an ordinary person with ordinary looks. I like names from mythology but "Artemis" or "Ishtar" or "Hebe" did not suit me at all. So...when my son was a teenager he was into this Russian phase (everyone wants to feel Different) so he went by "Crazy a.s Russian". This is the only thing that came to my mind - I had no "screen names" before. My abbreviation is somewhat different - CRazy About Stones from RUssia. Please do not laugh at me - my mind drew a blank when I was thinking of it. Just total blank.

My son has these banners from rock groups hanging all over his room although he is through this phase as well. I am glad that I did not go by some of them (Nirvana would be OK but Children of Sodom...or something like it. He has worse ones). Or he was into Japan and had lots of swords...I could have been Samurai... Sorry, it is big-time LOL.

I should have taken Peter''s toys instead. "Air France Concorde" is much better.

I read a really trashy novel {Forever Amber"} and decided to use the heroine''s name as a nic.

When I was 18 my boss kept calling me "beaches" for the longest time. The funny thing is I thought he was calling me "peaches". One day I decided to ask him why he called me that, and he said because your first name is Sandy.......Sandy Beaches. Of course I felt a little silly, but it is a cute story. When I signed up for the internet years ago Beaches was taken so I took a variation of the name. Beechezz was born!!

Lily is my middle name, and Katherine is my sister''s middle name. When we were young, we formed a secret "LilyKatherine Club", which was then abbreviated to the "LilyKat Club". I tend to use it for passwords and so on, and it just came to mind when I signed up to PS
