Are these worth cutting

Hi there.

I would like to ask some questions as to the physical appearance of a natural Alexandrite in its rough form. To me personally Alexandrite is harder to identify than any other gemstone out there, which brought me here, hopefully to get some answers.

So recently I've purchased what seemed to be a few rough alexandrite and a few chrysoberyl but my dilemma is I can't identify which of these is worth cutting into a gemstone?

Any answer is and will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

No, they're not worth cutting into faceted stones, but you could do cabs. It looks like schorl (black tourmaline) to me.

Looks like tourmaline to me too. Why do you think Alex so hard to identify?

1. They look to be cab grade, rather than facet grade.
2. Shape and growth points more towards tourmaline, not alexandrite.

How much did you pay?
