Sorry for another question but I just cleaned my ring and I noticed something in my diamond I have not noticed before. I can't tell if they are scratches, inclusions or cracks. I've had my ring for a month and I've looked at it many many times under a loupe and have never noticed these before. I first thought they were scratches but that doesn't really make sense. Are these inclusions that I somehow missed? That is what I'm currently thinking they are. I just hope I haven't done anything to hurt the ring in the past month and cause these. The diamond was graded as SI1-SI2 by our local jeweler. These pictures were taken using my loupe.

Yes, I'd say they are. Feathers, maybe? Or a few crystals? SI2 is usually not totally eye-clean close-up or at all angles or under all lighting conditions. The size of the inclusion plus the visibility are what make it an SI2. If it had more discrete or smaller inclusions, it would be SI1.

Do you have a report with the inclusions plotted on it? That would answer the question of type and location. That is an Old European or transitional cut (I can't go back to look at pictures from this editor.) An old cut, at any rate. Watch the girdle for chips. Some of the older stones have very thin girdles.

So, the stone is not GIA graded, then? From your pictures they look like inclusions, not anything you did to dammage the ring.

Thank you! I'm happy to hear they are inclusions. I love love love my ring/diamond and I'm glad they are natural and not a result of me damaging it.

Good to know you are happy with the ring.
